Chertoff on MSNBC talking about the border
'catch and release/return' anti-immigration program this admin is going to now pursue to distract from everything else. Aren't those terms used in hunting? Very disturbing to hear that when they're talking about people.

1. Dems need to start "targeting" the employers
As a take-it-back talking point.

3. Yep. When the GOP comes up with a wedge, remove it from their hands
and beat them over the head with it.

Punish the employers (and not JUST the jobbers they contract with to get workers) and remove the carrot for luring undocumented workers to come and get abused buy greedy bastards.

Employers are the instigators of the crimes. They lure people into breaking laws, they do not obey laws governing pay, payroll taxes, safety requirements for fun and profit. Throw them in prisons. Go to the boardrooms where the REAL problems start.

Illegal immigration is a Trickle Down problem. It starts at the very top. Fix it there.

The problem is ILLEGAL EMPLOYERS. Frame the discussion that way and take the GOP's silly wedge issue out of their hands. Beat them about the head and shoulders with their own devices.

AND while focusing on EMPLOYERS of undocumented workers, we will be offering a solution, which is something the DEMS need to get more press for doing. Stop being on the defensive with the wedge issues, offer real help and the voters WILL notice.

2. Bush is giving cover for the isse the GOP is going to push
for mid-term elections. They are gearing up to highlight this as the #1 issue and entangle it with things they typically win on: national security, controlling spending (cost to social security, medicare, medicaid, and healthcare/insurance in general), creating job.

Not that they're proven successes on these things; the facts show they are not. However...they ARE superb at their ability to go back to their voting constituencies and spinning the GOP "plan for success" like a herd of whirling dervishes.
