What if the Bush Administration was a murder suspect on trial?

What if the Bush Administration was a murder suspect on trial?

What would be their defense?

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, ...

1. You don't care that murder might or might not have occurred. You are far more interested in other things. You'd much rather go home and watch television.

2. The fact that the prosecution did not find a murder weapon is proof that this is all a witch-hunt. True, there is a dead body, but this person was old and probably would have died soon anyway.

3. This is a clear case of self-defense. True, the deceased had no weapon and did not even threaten my client, but he sure thought he was in danger, so it is completely justified. Hindsight is 20-20 after all.

4. A person has died. This is horribly tragic. And so this is not the time for a blame game.

5. This is clearly a ruse by the local government to distract you from the fact that they have no plan to fix the potholes in your neighborhood.

6. Just imagine the court costs involved in this case against my client. This is all paid for with your tax dollars. Don't you think that money could be better spent back in your own pockets through a tax cut?

7. Look! A bird! And it just sneezed!

8. What the prosecution doesn't want you to know is that the so-called "victim" once attended a Bruce Springsteen concert to benefit John Kerry's campaign!

9. The prosecutor was once a defense attorney who defended a murder suspect. How can we possibly take this seriously?

10. The prosecution has showed you the murder weapon, several eyewitnesses, and clear video supposedly showing my client killing the victim. But we don't want to be hasty. This issue definitely requires more study before we act.
