Is Bush a reincarnated Herman Goering? You decide:
Link

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."

-- Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials

1. Bush isn't; he's too, shall we say, "simple". But Rove,....
for example, is. And the rest of the gang.

The neocons... to their credit... hated Hitler. But we tend to become what we hate.

9. Sad but true. I was about to take credit for this gem...
but I just googled it and seems to derive from a dictum of Carl Jung.

And it's made the rounds in the form I presented.

I don't wanna be Bush either ( or the neocons, for that matter) and occasionally have to remind myself of this.

15. Me, too, my friend,....
,...me, too. Honestly, I never knew "hate" until this cabal came into power,...and I've witnessed some of the ugliest parts of me. ;( It's imperative to distinguish between repugnancy of actions-consequences and the flawed existence of being human IMHO.

3. Goering was an ace in WWI
B*sh was a drunk in Viet Nam, probably still is.

Besides, I doubt B*sh is operating at the same intellectual level of a 7-11 clerk, let alone Goering.

B*sh just followed orders-he is incapable of thinking all on his own.

Rove, on the other hand..

Joe

5. Bush was drunk in Texas and Alabama DURING Vietnam. He
never came near the place. Goering was a better pilot but was just as shit-house rat crazy as *.

11. Thats true, B*sh never did leave Texas (or Alabama)
I think Goering would deeply resent the comparison, though.

I think the point is - Goering was A GOOD pilot - B*sh was NEVER a pilot.

And not bright enough to think for himself in any event. Goering was indeed a Nazi Bastard, but he was a smart Nazi Bastard.

I doubt B*sh could pass his SATs.

10. just watched "Downfall"
The movie that depicts the final days in the bunker in Germany. Very well done, very riveting, very good movie. We were just discussing the parallels to the current administration. Hitler makes a statement to the effect of, "who cares about dead soldiers, that what the civilians are there for...dying". There are other commonalities as well. Depicting the general public as stupid followers etc.

12. It is a good film,
Be careful, there is no parallel to Hitler.

When Hitler sent the Volkstrom out to defend Berlin, the psycho actually expected to win.

The Luftwaffe, it was a great force. Goering was the father. But remember, it had a bastard son. Udet, he was the bastard son - and one of the greatest pilots to ever fly. 2nd in charge of the German air force - but born with a conscience. I think we are the conscience of the country now.

Udet blew his brains out in 1941, when he realized what Hitler was really up to. He understood, though. And it turned out.

I think the US is slow, but no fools.

And I do not believe B*sh has much of a conscience, but I doubt he has the IQ to manage a 7-11, either. It all balances out in the end.

The dems have to do right here. And if we do, I hope the repubs go into another 40 year hibernation. If we don't - well, I guess I understand the Bullmoose movement of the 19th century very well.

14. No, Goering, while a Nazi asshole, was also a war hero and a smart guy.
The Chimp is just a dopey loser and a puppet. The only thing he has in common with Goering is a zeal for murder.
