WHITESIDE, ., 73, of Palm Harbor, formerly of Tampa, died Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2005) at home. She was born in Bradford, Maine, and came here last month from Tampa. She was a registered nurse who worked 23 years in Maine and Florida. She was member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Tampa, and Christian Peacemaker Teams, Chicago. Survivors include her husband, Haven; two sons, Matthew, of Maine, and Jonathan, of Ontario, Canada; two daughters, Joanna Pompa, of Ohio, and Kathy Perry, of Florida; five sisters, Marilyn Bommer, of Massachusetts, and Elsie Catell, Marjorie Niles, Lois Knapp and Lorraine Higgins, all of Maine; two brothers, Paul Pray and Adrian Pray, both of Maine; and seven grandchildren. Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, Tarpon Springs.

According to that link, they weren't there to proselytize but to truly help:
The organization's teams have "worked for the rights of Iraqi prisoners who have been illegally detained and abused by the U.S. government. We were the first people to publicly denounce the torture of Iraqi people at the hands of U.S. forces, long before the Western media admitted what was happening at Abu Ghraib."

This is so awful.
