"A sociopath never apologizes or admits any wrongdoing"

Psychopaths will often make great displays of feigned remorse and contrition when caught, but the purpose of thsi behavior is merely to minimize the consequences of their offenses, and the wailing and emotional carrying-on will last only as long as it continues to be useful to the offender.
