2. Umm he still lets Malloy, Randi and others say whatever they want
Morning Sedition was good and all but jeez boycott a network that is the only network to not only allow a voice like Malloy's and Randi's to be heard but to go completely uncensored minus adherence to FCC regulations.....I'd hardly call that soft.

11. Yea but Malloy himself has said that Bernie allows him to go loose
many times Malloy has praised AAR's Executive staff for allowing him to say whatever he wants.

I dunno you wanna boycott AAR that's fine, maybe you're not boycotting AAR maybe you're just pissed, but quite frankly around here AAR is the only network that isn't spewing Right Wing bullshit left and right.

23. Well...
Dunno about the rest of the country, but...

we had some sort of dust-up here in Sacto between AAR and local AM 1240 who had been carrying AAR. Seems that both blamed each other for whatever happened, but the interesting result is...

that Sacramento, CA now has TWO liberal radio networks!

And while it's way more than I could have hoped for just a short year ago, now i have (because of competition) a choice. And I'm finding myself curiously drawn to the local station.

That's the bitch about competition, ya know?

:hi:

28. Well if you have a choice then by all means take advantage of it
Since I don't have Satellite radio I don't even have the option of drive time radio with AAR-I listen to it via archived shows that I throw on my iPod to play in the mornings.

Here in "liberal" Tucson, Az you choices of talk radio range from batshit right-wing, typical right-wing, and "I'm 45 and still cool especially because Sean Hannity is my hero and I wish I could be like him but I never will be so I just try to copy him with my lame ass unoriginal show.....btw my name is Dave Skylar and if you're from California you might know me" show.

3. Why did Morning Sedition go off the air? I've heard this alluded to for
a while, but not the reasons for the problems or conflict.

What is now in its place?

4. I haven't had Morning Sedition in awhile on my one liberal station.
They replaced it with Stephanie Miller, whom I like. I am sorry though because I liked Morning Sedition while I could get it as well.

6. Apparently... AAR Never Really Promoted Morning Sedition...
I guess they were embarrassed by it when it came up at high-powered cocktail parties.

25. Where are you at? Stephanie Miller is actually on live at the same time
as Jerry Springer, not MS. Many of the Progressive Talk stations have Morning Sedition, Stephanie Miller, Al Franken,...

I assume they will have the new Riley, Maddow show now.

29. San Luis Obispo
We have two hours of Steph and one hour of Rachel before Al Franken.
Thats when MS was on. Maybe they do it earlier now, except I do have to sleep at some time. Malloy often keeps me up until one A. M..

14. To be replaced by Rachel Maddow.
Edited on Tue Nov-29-05 10:43 PM by NYCGirl

Edited to add: Mark Riley will be on 5-7, Rachel Maddow from 7-9. Maron wanted to move to LA, he will still be a contributor, but I guess Riley didn't want to move or something. Maron is in negotiations to get his own show from LA.

for Maron...

I'd have been thrilled with that, but I fear this is something more...

personal.

18. Morning Sedition wouldn't have been the same program with Maron in LA
while Riley was in NY. You can't dispute that fact.

15. From a strictly entertainment and laughs perspective, Morning
Sedition was the best show on AAR by a long shot I think.

Once again, does anyone know the reason it was axed?

16. Can't really blame Goldberg...
Don't get me wrong; MS is one of my favorite shows on AAR and I'm bummed that it got canned. I was equally bummed when they dumped Unfiltered and replaced it with the odious Springer -- I felt a huge void in my life. But I also understand the economics behind the decision. As much as you or I might love shows like MS, Majority Report, or Malloy, AAR can't compete in the coveted morning drive-time slot with these programs. In order to remain economically viable and enable serious growth, they'll need a heavy-hitter in that slot. I think that Randi or Franken or Rachel Maddow might be a good draw (preferably Randi), but they need a proven marquee name to draw big ratings and big ad revenues. We don't want AAR to remain a fringe network forever, do we?

I do wish that they could keep MS on the air, though; maybe in the 9-12 spot instead of Springer.

19. Just a conjecture, and I hope I'm allowed to wonder about this...
but I don't think Morning Sedition was necessarily axed. I think that Maron really wanted to move back to LA, where his wife is. I think that AAR really wants to move Rachel Maddow, who is awesome, into a more listener friendly time slot since she is a big draw. I think that some of Maron's comments about contract negotiations and such is just somewhat of a publicity stunt to hype up the new line up and get folks prepared for the change as well as for his new AAR gig in LA. He is still a stand up comedian and travels a lot. M.S. had to have been hard to do for him with the traveling on the weekends and being thousands of miles away from his wife, with whom he seems to want to begin a family (hard to do when you're on the other coast.

Just my thoughts...

20. Whew! I tought you meant Majority Report. Whew, thank dog!
I love Jeanine Garofao and Sam Seder. With Malloy, Rhodes, Stephanie Miller, Franken, and Thom Hartman -we are very lucky to have such powerful on air talent.

31. Were the ratings poor?
What is it being replaced with? I only listened to Sedition once or twice. I only regularly listen to Malloy and Rhodes.

But If I were to can one person, it would be Franken, whose schtick is unbelievably grating to me.

Luckily for AAR, I'm not in charge, since Franken has the highest ratings, he's gotta stay. Bummer for me.

Good luck to the Marks.
