The study notes that, with 249,000 jobs, the entertainment industry is the second-biggest employer in Los Angeles County, generating revenues of $28 billion last year.
Kyser's findings were embraced by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, a proponent of creating incentives that make the city and state more competitive with other locales. For example, Villaraigosa has proposed eliminating fees for filming at all city facilities.
