Most telling and horrific part of the Nightline story tonight.
The American and Iraqi forces were going to the HOME of a suspected insurgent. These are Iraqi citizens, not foreigners. These people are fighting against occupying forces and their "collaborators."

1. That's exactly what Sy Hersh has been saying!
7% are insurgents...that's it.

2. The President of Iraq has said Iraqis fighting against
occupation are NOT insurgents. Just more chaos caused by this administration.

3. It's not a "war"
It's an "invasion," followed by an "illegal occupation."

They're not Improvised Explosive Devices.

They're bombs.

They're not "insurgents."

They're "resistance fighters," and how horrible it is that I find myself rooting for them against our own troops.

Fuck George W. Bush. He should rot in Hell beyond eternity. Starting now.

4. Amen. Every word.

I can only recall how much I liked and admired the Vietnamese - even knowing that they might be VC.

6. I've been YELLING for 2 years, 8 months (in my locale, not in DU)
that this has NEVER BEEN A WAR...it's been, well, precisely what you said. Sorry, it gyrates my hormones. I'm surrounded by idiot inbred neocons who think Chimp is 'getting back at the 9/11 terists'...many of
them don't even care that Iraqis had nothing to do with it, they equate all "ay-rabs" with the attackers and drink the Kool aid over and over and over...
:grr:

8. So true...
Now that we have set this wonderful precendent, when do WE get the privilege of being freed from our insane leader by an occupying force?

7. The Dems just can't think. they should be jumping all over this.
Why can't they say, "We were told Al-qaeda and foreign Islamic militants were in Iraq. But the truth is we are killing mostly Iraqi citizens who are fighting occupying forces (US) and Iraqi collaborators."

9. Murtha said a poll in Iraq showed that 45% of Iraqis think it's okay
to harm or kill US occupying troops.

He said that this was his "light bulb" moment.

If nothing else, this means we should leave and find a different way to help the Iraqis achieve stability.
