1. What did you see?
The show here in the east coast was about a child sex abuser who escaped during hirrican Katrina.

6. anyone else get the feeling....
that the writers having the reporter go to jail for his convictions, think they were trying to paint judith miller in a better light? i've been disappointed with svu lately. some recent shows have taken a decidedly rightward bent. i suspect it's the influence of fred thompson?

8. I didn't see it that way at all.
The reason the reporter on the show went to jail was to protect a cop from the retaliation of the feds, and I think that's a good thing!

Miller went to jail to "protect" a possible criminal within the gov't.

I saw the show as telling people the right things to go to jail for instead of what really happened.

9. The reporter said, "There's no freedom without a free press."
It was chilling.

It took a potshot at the patriot act, at the feds for not protecting people and for ass-covering in the name of national security.

I thought it was anything but right wing.

11. I feel the same way.
I think that the Law and Order shows come a lot closer to "Fair and Balanced" than does Faux News. By the way what color alert are we under these days?

13. HA! I think the new guy did away with the color stuff.
I think it went the way of the duct tape and sheets of plastic.

16. maybe it is paranoia....
but having witnessed firsthand, the evil corrupt stranglehold the right has had on the media for the past five years, i admit that i may be a bit overly sensitive. i think the recent events at pbs may have made me even more paranoid. normally, i not one to don the tinfoil hat, but no one can refute the efforts of the right to control the message.

i take your criticism to heart, and i stand chastened & rebuked.

12. SVU has sucked on the free speech issue.
For that matter, L&O in general has been more and more right-wing. I wanna see a show where the defense attorney is portrayed as a good guy on par with Jack McCoy.
