Was there an assassination attempt on *bush in May??
If this is something that was out there and just passed me by, I apologize. But I have NOT heard about any assassination attempt on Glorious Leader until I saw it listed on his profile here: http://www.nndb.com/people/360/000022294/

Am I a brain-dead moran, or has this been kept silent all this time?

Man convicted for Bush assassination plot
11/22/2005 4:28 PM
By: Associated Press

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – On Tuesday a jury in Virginia rejected claims of an Arab-American college student, who argued he was tortured into confessing he plotted to kill President Bush.

Ahmed Omar Abu Ali was convicted of joining al-Qaeda and plotting an assassination.

Abu Ali claimed Saudi authorities whipped and tortured him into making a false confession.

The 24-year-old could get life in prison. Charges include conspiring to kill the president and providing support to al-Qaeda.

Ali was born in Houston to a Jordanian father and raised in Falls Church, Va. He was arrested in June of 2003 at a Saudi Arabian university.

Ali did not testify at his trial.

I won't add any comments because I'm afraid I might get arrested.

2. Yeah, that made the news at the time...
when some local asshole tossed a grenade while our asshole was yakking in Tblisi.

Turns out the grenade was tossed pretty much in the other direction, and the local gendarmerie grabbed the guy. When it turned out to either not be an assasination attempt at Shrub, or one of the most inept assassination attempts in history, it quickly disappeared.

As did the guy who threw the grenade.

3. when he was visiting (ex-USSR) Georgia...
He was giving a speech, and some guy threw a grenade into the crowd about 100 feet from him but failed to go off.

I don't think there was any attempt at stifling the story or anything like that, since in the end it was the equivalent of some crazy guy throwing a big rock towards Bush but missing wildly. Yeah, he obviously wanted to kill Bush, but the fact is that the grenade turned out to be a dud, and I don't think there was any mention of the guy belonging to a group, so the media rather reasonably found little interest in pursuing it further.

4. Still I don't mind them punishing someone
for throwing a grenade into a crowd. It's a good thing it didn't go off and cause even more tragedy. As for Bush I would just say well I'm not going to say it.
