why is godaddy.com not working?
i want to go there to check out my account but get "page not found".

also, another question that has been burning for a while: why does a website that sells and manages domain names have such a stupid domain name? i mean, couldn't they come up with something better than godaddy? what the hell does it mean anyway?

1. It is up for me.
I wondered the samething about the name. Something more business like would be more appropriate.

2. I have been trying to log on all morning
It's still setting up a secure connection (or so it claims). But I can't log in at all.

3. My site is down.

I am calling now.

I can get the Godaddy page, but nothing else. I'll let you know what they say.

My estimated hold time is 6 minutes!

4. Although I can't get to GoDaddy my site's up but slow & glitchy loading
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 08:27 AM by WePurrsevere
so my guess is there's a server or connection issue somewhere.

As for the name since the "mascot" is jazzy looking and they play jazz when you're on hold I'd say it's related to that. Where ever it came from there's something catchy about the name so folks tend to remember it much like Google.

edited to change "up" to "slow & glitchy"

5. They are experiencing slowness
He could not or would not give me an explanation. They got my site up, still no explanation, but it is SSSLLLOOOWWW!

But only a few more months then I am leaving them forever.

7. Thanks :-) .. I just edited my post after checking it again.
Only been hosting with them for a few months but so far I've been okay with their uo time versus down time as hosts. Over the years I've seen worse where the site owners paid more but if I could find a decent "blue" host site for the same or less I'd change mostly because I find godaddy's site a pain to navigate.

8. Their site is painful
I took over management of a site already on Godaddy. Once the webhosting term expires, I am moving it to ipowerweb.com. It is cheaper in the long run.

It infuriates me that everything is "extra" for Godaddy...want more email space, buy it, yet, they allow me 1000 free email accounts. I don't need 1000, I need 10! I asked if I could consolidate the space of the 1000 and divide between the 10, I was told NO! This and other support issues are giving me reasons to move.

6. my site is down, and my stats were low overnight.
who knows? i have had no problems with them ever, so i'm sure it'll be resolved soon.

i think the name has to do with music, too. 'go daddy' is a beat term - remember gilligan - daddy-o. i was put off at first, but it really doesn't matter, since their service is so great. yes, it IS catchy, and that's what sticks in people's heads.
