I'm 'responsible' for
my war vote, Hil sez

By RICHARD SISK
DAILY NEWS WASHINGTON BUREAU

WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Clinton yesterday ripped President Bush's conduct of the Iraq war but stopped short of admitting her vote to authorize the invasion was a mistake.

"I take responsibility for my vote," she said, "and I, along with a majority of Americans, expect the President and his administration to take responsibility for the false assurances, faulty evidence and mismanagement of the war."

The letter reflected Clinton's growing unease over campaign contributors "who have called my office asking questions and expressing frustration" with her October 2002 Senate vote to give Bush authority to invade.

Clinton said administration officials had assured her the vote would be used to press for weapons inspections and that war was a last resort.

But, she said, "this administration was either not being honest with the American people or did not know what was going on in Iraq."

2. No Offense, Ms. Senator
But I doubt anybody in this administration will ever take responsibility for anything unless they are forced to take responsibility.

3. Sorry, but this is WAY too late to make amends---or to get
my vote. I WANT and NEED someone who was smart enough, honest enough and courageous enough to have spoken out against this atrocity from the beginning(Geez, I saw thru them from the beginning and I am no Rhodes Scholar), to be the Dem candidate. No one else need apply. All those who fall in Hillary's category just do not measure up to the strong and honest leadership that we MUST have at this time.

5. Good. That will help when your fundraisers call me...
Good. That will help when your fundraisers call me (from Texas,
no less!) and I have to explain to them why, even though I gave
you money in the past, you can now go to Hell.

6. Responsibility? The "Duh, I was misled" defense.
Sorta like saying, "Well, Judge, I loaded the gun and gave it to the guy who said he wanted to kill his wife, and congratulated him when he did it, but I'm not responsible for the murder."

10. I'd make that pledge, but...
If she happens to be our nominee in '08, the alternative is much, much worse.
