"PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE (AP) - The Army activated a brigade Thursday charged with command and control of a $22 billion system intended to protect the nation from a ballistic missile attack.

Some of the soldiers assigned to the Midcourse Defense Brigade, which will have at least 60 Colorado National Guard and active-duty soldiers, will work inside Cheyenne Mountain, home to the North American Aerospace Defense Command, or NORAD.

If a missile attack was launched, NORAD would notify the brigade, which in turn would provide information on the missiles' location to operators of ''kill vehicles'' based in Alaska and California."

And if we couldn't intercept them in time or missed and the Russian missles hit our troops in Iraq how would we invade Iran or Syria ?

Now WHO EXACTLY has made our troops sitting ducks in a hostile region?
And WHO EXACTLY has talked about projecting that military other places in that region. Who is the idiot who has precipitated all this?

He is saying that they reserve the right to first strike with Nukes just like Bush* said not too long ago. If there was a little warning there for the US , can you blame them? Every country on earth has to rethink their relationship with America. We are like a coiled rattlesnake and Russia is saying they have a gun.

If you think that it means that Russia has now adopted the 'Bush Doctrine', you are right. Watch for MANY nations across the globe to do the same. Bush has made the world a far more dangerous place for everyone.

China's launching of a covert spy satellite right now under cover of space exploration (though you'd have to be pretty stupid not to see that scenario from a mile off)is also a pretty good indication of what they think of the glorious (sic) Bush "doctrine".

It is our own damn fault, we opened a Pandora's Box, that had been shut as a result of decades of careful diplomacy. The former Soviet Union was a Superpower, with all the resources a continental size country commands. It still has sizable arsenal. It is still a formidible opponent.

I think Putin's statement is a 'Beware of Dog' sign for Bush.

It means that having the Americans this close to Russia is always cause for a reiteration of the strength of the Russian bear.

Keep in mind that the majority of the worlds energy is in that region, and Putin is still probably cheesed off from losing that billion dollar deal with Iraq when the invasion started. What is right next door to the former USSR? Iran.


When the stakes get this high, always let the other guy know you still have the nukes and are willing to use them.


This is not that big of a deal, seeing the remarks Dubya has been making about modernizing the US's nuclear arsenal.
