US military PLANTING STORIES in Iraqi newspapers
The US military is secretly paying Iraqi newspapers to print stories written by US soldiers in an effort to polish the image of the American mission in Iraq, a US newspaper reported.

US military "information operations" troops have written the articles, which are translated into Arabic and placed in Baghdad newspapers with the help of the Lincoln Group, a Washington-based defense contractor, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Many articles are presented to Iraqi newspapers as unbiased news accounts written and reported by independent journalists, the daily said, citing documents it obtained and unnamed US military officials.
The stories denounce insurgents and tout the work of US and Iraqi troops and the US-led effort to rebuild Iraq.

The United States has paid Iraqi newspapers to publish dozens of articles, the LA Times said. "The operation is designed to mask any connection with the US military," it said.

4. Take a look who's behind the stories
A shady GOP operative who claims he was CEO of some company that can't be traced, and suddenly became co-chair of the NYC Republican Convention committee. Hmmmmmm.

Follow the link at Christian Bailey.

7. Are we really surprised?
The level of propaganda since 2001 would make Josef Goebbels jealous. The troops in Iraq are having a whale of a time, they're all on the Good Ship Lollipop and Iraq is fast becoming the Monte Carlo of the Middle East.

Jaysus, ah might even move to Baghdad mahself, that ah might.

10. "US media doesn't report any GOOD in Iraq!!!"
Evidently they don't get the same planted news stories that we feel are necessary to run over there!

13. Well, since I have a lot of experience with languages,
I can assure you the Iraqis will know these stories were NOT written by Iraqis. Only ONE WORD can give their entire misinformation operation away, and then it will spread around the country faster than Bushler can down a fifth of Jack.

It will not work they way they want. The result will be the OPPOSITE! :)
