Mr Speaker!

We have watched in horror as a member of Congress admitted to taking $2.4 Million in bribes. His actions have brought disgrace to every, single member of this body.

Our Party, the Democratic Party, pledges to the American people that we will not participate in corrupt practices and we will not tolerate among us those who do. If the Democratic Party discovers members who are engaged in illegal practices, we will expose them, we will shun them and we will deny them the support and comfort of their political party.

Trust in "The People's House" must be restored and we, the members of the Democratic Party, pledge ourselves to this end. We invite our Republican friends and colleagues to join us in this noble, and necessary, endeavor.
