"NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR VICTORY IN IRAQ" was written for Bush
http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/iraq/iraq_national_strategy_20051130.pdf

I've been reading this thing, and reading this thing, and I can't come up with any other explanation but that it was written for George W. Bush and not for public distribution.

It seems as if Bush returned from a very long vacation demanding to know what the hell was going on in Iraq, and they quickly came up with this piece of crap.

Maybe it satisfied Bush. Maybe he's the one who had it proudly posted on http://www.whitehouse.gov. It's a scary thought...

This document is embarrassing. These are the ravings of an institution that has lost all grip on reality. This is the annual report of the most pathetic loser in a junk bond portfolio.

There are no statistics, no concrete plans of action, nothing at all that would convince a rational person that Iraq has not become a hopeless mess.

Another DU poster suggested Bush wrote parts of it, but I don't think this is correct. If the writing sounds like him it's because his speechwriters were involved. Bush has written much less than other U.S. presidents, and I don't see him going out of his way to write anything like this.

This is out there now for the people of other nations to ponder. I don't think they can come to any other conclusion but that the Executive Branch of the United States Government is broken.

I've seen the pictures from this morning. George W. Bush, the pilot of our plane, is prancing up and down the aisles spouting Christian allegories of "eight pillars" and calling out to God for His Blessings.

So what do we do now?

1. It's CLEAR from just a brief look, that...
...The WAR ON TERROR will NOT end at Iraq. It will go on and on and on. The evidence is all over this document!

2. they took his collection of sound bites and spinnings
and slapped on a new cover...

it's the same pile of crap we've been fed since invading.

as far as his "speech" goes -- just take the speeches he has been giving for the past 2 years - cut and paste them together and you have today's "speech". SSDD - same speech different day

the big "BOO-BOO" is the title of the "book" -- VICTORY IN IRAQ
This was suppose to be a WAR ON TERROR - not a WAR ON IRAQ, so a more appropriate title should have been VICTORY OVER TERROR

That being said, and more to the point - what is not being said -- after Iraq then what? If invading Iraq is truly a war on terror - what happens after Iraq? Does bush* invade some other country - Iran and Syria seem to be in the wings to be next.

6. I believe we ought to take back our government! I read the thing
early this morning and laughed at it. I used to do some strategic planning for a very large corporation and this document, whoever really wrote it, is a joke. When other countries look at this junk, they will be laughing their asses off.

If it was written by the National Security Council, then we are truly being governed by a group of children. No one in the business world would dare to call it a 'strategy'! A group of 13 year olds could have done the job and alot cheaper!

We used to have bright, experienced, professional people in government. But just look at what this administration has put into those positions. It's just not the executive branch either; look at who's staffing agencies like the FDA, OSHA, FEC, EPA, EEOC, FEMA, etc. I am embarrassed by these fools. We need serious facts and debates, not tired, boring cliches.

10. I checked out some of the links in it...
www.state.gov/p/nea/rls/rpt/iraqstatus

goes to this now:

This comprehensive status report on Iraq provides weekly updates in the eight key areas identified as pillars of U.S. Government policy.

Those "eight pillars" sure do get around...

Our military has just been marking time while people on both sides are being killed.

13. Wow, that report really is ridiculous
I hadn't read it in full until now, and you're right, it's almost laughable. No facts, figures, timelines, or anything technical sounding to convince me that things are being accomplished. Just talking points and strong verbal suggestions of what has been done and what needs to be done. It's like a 4th grad book report, only it was made by/for our president. Makes you proud to be an American, doesn't it?

14. Pelosi said there is no classified version of the plan on C-Span, too
speech just warmed over stew. Also said Bush talked about classified version of plan. She was handed a note that said there is no "classified version" so she doesn't even know what he's talking about.

Told the questioner, you'll have to ask him because there is no classsifed version.
