The Republican Party is not the only enemy
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 05:05 PM by Diogenes17
I don't know if any of you caught this story today on CNN:

Bush: No Iraq pullout without victory http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/29/us.iraq/index.html

It's the usual lapdog bullshit we've come to expect. What caught my eye was this little quote about three-quarters of the way into the story:

"A crowd of anti-war demonstrators met him after he landed, waving signs urging Bush's impeachment and a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. Some waved their middle fingers at reporters traveling with the president." (Italics mine.)

Look, let's be honest: Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Libby, Rove, Rice, the lot of them, are a blight on the face of humanity. They're the worst thing to happen to this country since slavery. It will take a generation for the United States to recover from the damage they've done, to the nation, to our reputation, to the world. You know the list: treason, greed, senseless death by active killing in the Middle East, senseless death by inaction in the Gulf of Mexico, and senseless death in the future through environmental poison, slashing of medical care, and the coming plague of home-made abortions. They've heaped enough bad karma on this nation for a lifetime, not to mention the eternal torments they face when they pass on to the next existence, if you believe in that sort of thing.

But all of this -- all of it -- would not have been possible without the willing complicity of the American media. If a child is dying from having its limbs blown off in Iraq, Tweety and Russert and Woodward and Mitchell and Novak and Miller are just as fucking guilty of that child's murder as Donald "Death's Head" Rumsfeld. "If it bleeds, it leads", and the press made a ton of money covering 9/11. Yeah, buddy, and they milked that cash cow right on into Iraq. Embed those reporters, run that crawler across the bottom of the screen with a little American flag, use those nifty computer graphics -- the public loves it! They turned a blind eye while the Republicans stole two elections, flushed our civil rights into the toilet, and trashed the anyone who gets in their way. They're doing it again, pumping up the Boy-King's latest rerun like it was sent down from Mount Sinai (and that's probably where the dim-witted prick thinks it came from).

So the next time you're out there with your banners and protest signs, the next time you write a letter to the editor, the next time you run for public office, you need to take it to the REAL enemy. The media. Shoot them a bird? Hell, we need to scream at them, tell them what fucking liars they are. I'd pay good money to see Tweety speechless for once, wouldn't you? And oh boy, do we need to make these liars lives miserable, 24-7. If they're doing a little standup reporting, start yelling at them while they're on the air. Embarass them. Make them think twice about what they're spewing. I'd think hocking a lugie on Bob Novak the next time you see him on the DC subway would be just as satisfying as waving a protest sign in front of a functionally illiterate president.

OK, end of rant. (Edited to take out those wierd characters)

1. And don't forget to do the opposite
when its called for...In some ways positive reinforcement can be more powerful. When a media figure speaks the truth, he needs to hear from you, hear your support, because you can be damn sure he will be hearing from republican shills who want to keep the truth in the dark.
