Don Feder joins the fight for Christmas
I despise this pompous prick. I used to work with one of his daughters and when he came in he acted like royalty. Fuckin' douche.

http://www.grasstopsusa.com/112905.html

And so it is. Each year, Christmas recedes further from view. This notwithstanding that, according to a recent Newsweek survey, 85% of this nation is Christian. (On a percentage-of-population basis, America is more Christian than Israel is Jewish -- more Christian than India is Hindu.)

A FOX News poll informs us that 96 % of the American people celebrate Christmas – which means a lot of non-Christians are decking the halls too. So the above de-Santa-zation process is all for 4% of the population?

Not even. Many who don’t celebrate Christmas have no objection to Christmas trees, carols, mangers in parks, Santas in parades or the lady at the cash register saying “Merry Christmas.” I should know; I’m one of them.

When I was in grade school, back in the ‘50s, we sang Christmas carols and made Christmas ornaments. And, guess what – I wasn’t emotionally scarred for life.

What’s the big deal? I’m a Jew who lives in an overwhelmingly Christian nation. (Are Christians who live in Israel offended when someone wishes them a Happy Hanukah?) Christmas has been celebrated on these shores -- in one form or another -- since the earliest settlements.

1. Interesting
Why is it offensive, Mr. Feder, for a christian to hear the words "Happy Holidays?"

That's the part i'm having trouble with.

9. The Other Interesting Thing, I Think. . .
. . .is that even for christians, there are two holidays within 8 days. For Catholics, the first of January is a HOLY DAY! So, there are two holidays in one week, national & religious, and happy holidays makes sense no matter who says it, no matter who hears it. So, not only is it non-offensive (as you said), but it makes perfect sense no mater what.

What do you think , Bryant?

10. I do know that if I had a shop I'd mandate that my employees said
happy holidays; just makes good business sense. I wouldn't fire them if they said Merry Christmas, of course.

6. He's a columnist for the Boston Herald Rag and is carried independently
in other tabloids that would have him. And I'm not sure he is still with the Herald because no one reads that piece of crap newspaper anymore. He is extremely right wing and a nut case moralist.

11. The guy who called Puerto Rico a "carribean dogpatch"
Real charmer.

Racist, self-hating Jew.

4. The fact that this idea of Christmas being "under attack"
has spread so far and wide shows you just how powerful the Republican noise machine is.

These people make me sick.

They don't care about prewar WMD lies. They don't care about over 2000 dead and over 20000 wounded. They don't care about deficits and the mortgaging of our future. They don't care about torture of prisoners, and the jeopardy it might put our troops in.

What is their biggest issue?

Not enough stores are saying "Merry Christmas".

:wtf:

5. Dumb quote from a Dumb man:
"Christmas has been celebrated on these shores -- in one form or another -- since the earliest settlements."

Doesn't he know those earliest settlements (the Puritans, at least)
actually FORBID celebrating on Christmas?
And PUNISHED members for it?

He should read a book sometime-
Thanksgiving decorations are NOT the most
reliable source of historical information.

Beat me to it!
Celebrating Christmas in any way but going to church was considered "Popish." The German immigrants really made it what it is today.

8. Christmas is alive and well in my house and family
Why is it a crime to be mindful of cultural differences? It's almost like their own personal believe system is so fragile they need constant affirmation, to the detriment of those with different values.

12. You know ....
these assholes make it sound like armed troops will storm your home if you dare to celebrate Christmas! :eyes:

Any pea-brain who thinks that saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas" is an "attack" on Christmas needs to get a f*cking life and face reality: as far as retail stores are concerned, Christmas is not (and has never been) a religious celebration ... it's a COMMERCIAL holiday! It's a way to make more money ... period. They don't sell trees, lights and millions of gifts to honor Jesus Christ or any other deity - they do it to "honor" their stockholders. And guess what ... they don't sell chocolate bunnies, marshmallow chicks and egg dye at Easter for religious reasons either. WTF do those things have to do with a resurrection anyway? :eyes:

Maybe if they didn't steal all their major holidays from the Pagans, they wouldn't be so paranoid about other people's beliefs overshadowing their holidays. :P
