Lame answer from WPost I got on pulling of Boondocks
Dear Ms Palmer

The decision to pull this week's "Boondocks" comic strip was done because it did not meet The Post standard in regards to commenting on the private lives of public officials. The information must be accurate and relevant. Thus, it was our editorial decision that this week's comic strip was not appropriate to run due to its' subject matter.

Thank you for contacting us.

Sincerely,

Josephine Bynum

Anybody know if any comic strips (not editorial cartoons) lampooned Clinton's affair with Monica? Has Doonesbury lampooned the private lives of public officials. Me thinks the WPost is being chickenshit on this and doing some more brownnosing to the Bush WH.

But I just couldn't resist skewering the WPost - they've proven they're no liberal rag. I think we need to protest this kind of censorship and I think they look damn silly being the only newspaper in the country to pull the strip this week. I think MacGruder is brilliant in skewering the Bush folks.

I think as an African-American cartoonist he also points out the foibles in African-American pop culture. Took me awhile as an older white woman to get in to his strip, but I look forward to it every day just as much as I appreciate the great editorial cartoonists. If only more of the print and network pundits were as good as MacGruder and the editorial cartoonists this country would be in far better shape and we wouldn't have such a cowed and dumb citizenry.

3. can protest it..
but it's not censorship when they make the decision themselves...censorship would have to involve some sort of government force

5. It was selective judgement
They chose not run certain strips and not cancel the whole comic.

6. Censorship doesn't require government involvment
Merriam-Webster:

Main Entry: cen·sor·ship
1 a : the institution, system, or practice of censoring b : the actions or practices of censors; especially : censorial control exercised repressively

Main Entry: censor
: to examine in order to suppress or delete anything considered objectionable
