Kerry blames election loss on Sept. 11 attacks
RAW STORY

Asked by a reporter outside the White House today what cost him the election, Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) gave a terse reply, RAW STORY can reveal.

"9/11," Kerry said.

Cox News Service has filed a story for delivery Friday, detailing Kerry's comments outside the White House where he had been invited to watch President Bush sign a resolution calling for a Rosa Parks statue at the Capitol. Kerry "refused further analysis" about his loss.

"No assessments," he quipped as he retreated down the White House driveway. "This is not the time and place for it."

Excerpts follow.

#
"I think that the American people have serious questions, not just about the policy in Iraq but about what's happening here at home with respect to the cost of health care, the cost of gasoline, fuel, what is not happening in our schools," he said when asked about Bush's low poll numbers.

Asked if he spends much time wondering how he lost to a president now mired in low poll numbers, Kerry said, "No. I know how I lost."

Kerry and Bush shook hands three times during the signing ceremony at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building adjacent to the White House. At the event, he said his differences with Bush are "not personal."

1. Paul Krugman confirmed it - he said the media spent post 9-11 building

Bush up into a leader of heroic proportions.

The media didn't tell the people the truth for 4 years. Katrina and indictments had to do it for them.

It still comes down to two things - GOP control of the broadcast media and the voting machines.

Note to RawStory: Why use the word blame? We know there are layers of reasons for why Bush was able to maintain power, and the media is probably the biggest, so why center on one word like Kerry "blames" 9-11? He was aked somethinga and gave you a shorthand answer.

I dare say Krugman would give you the same answer. Bush wouldn't have had media such slaves to his will if 9-11 hadn't happened and media needed to build him up into a figure worthy enough to stop their own knees from shaking.

2. "terra terra terra" won
fear and fake terra alerts, and a somewhat stale Osama tape released as Karl's October Surprise.

3. Raw-story thinks it is news because?

Kerry has been holding to this explanation since the first time he gave an interview on the election, and it is probably the main factor.

Somebody tried to bait him in saying something controversial and he resisted to focus on the current situation. I dont see why this is such a big deal?

4. And he's right.
9/11 was Dumbass' trump card. When all else failed, all he had to do was scream "Terra! YER ALL GUNNA DIE!" and people fell back in line.

6. I agree. Fearmongering worked for them.
Although I do think Kerry did win but the margin would have been bigger if not for Rove's fear tactics.

7. Too bad Kerry isn't man enough
to raise the election fraud. He could have really made a difference if he hadn't folded. Now Mark Crispin Miller claims and I believe him that Kerry told him that he believes the election was stolen - and when Miller went public Kerry denied it. I know a lot of you believe it would be political suicide for Kerry or any Dem to get on the election fraud band wagon, but I tell you if something isn't done the Dems will never win another election. I for one am sick and tired of being looked at like I'm some kind of conspiracy nut case freak when I say the elections was stolen. There is plenty of evidence out there that should be questioned.

Here is and interview with Mark Crispin Miller on his new book - Fooled Again. Well worth listening to.

9. We all heard it. Did you read Parry's article on Miller dustup?
If you did, you wouldn't be as discouraged as you are.

8. "RAW STORY can reveal." - LOL, there is nothing secret there

I love raw_story, but this is a little bit exaggerated. They blow out of proportion a story that has been told again and again and again.
