Saddam was a thug so we had to bomb Iraq.

That's the RW talking point, yes?

If we look closely at the atrocities Saddam, his sons and their cohorts are accused of committing (and I don't doubt they did some terrible crimes) they might seem familiar.

DISCLAIMER: I do not support Saddam. I understand the difference between government officials carrying out these crimes and citizens carrying out these crimes. But I also understand governments that "stand by" while crimes are committed.

ATROCITY ONE: SADDAM: Executions, sometimes brutal and included torture.

WITHIN US BORDERS: 1. Native Americans slaughtered. 2. Slavery. 3. KKK lynchings. 4. Mafia in it's many forms. 5. Serial murders, rapes, child abductions and sex trade. 6. McVeigh, Anthrax killers.

ATROCITY TWO: SADDAM: Mass graves.

USA: 1. Native Americans. 2. Ask a Civil War historian. 3. Psychos in any American state (ask your local homicide investigator.)

ATROCITY THREE: SADDAM: Has WMD Ready to go (proven to be untrue).

USA: Yep
Russia: Of course
Israel: Yep and wants them on submarines
N Korea: We're going to show you in a test soon.
India: yeah
Pakistan: maybe
Others: don't know.

My point being...we had no authority to overtake a country on these accounts (and very often those accounts were fabricated).

The world fears the US, but doesn't respect us anymore. We made strides to overcome the horrors of the past, we freed the slaves and passed legislation to ensure all Americans are treated with equality...er, um right.

I am pretty much in shock. So don't mind me...

On edit: Surely my discreditors will say our history is just that...HISTORY. While I beg to differ in that...there are more violent crimes committed in America than any other 1st world countries. And those folks also should remember that Poppy saw those mass graves in Gulf War I. So why is that a reason for 2003 war?

3. I was going to put Pakistan in the Yes side.
But I wasn't sure.

Another situation not covered by US media...Pakistan is probably covering Bin ladin's ass.

4. Not only, but also......
.....it was Pakistan that provided N Korea with Nuke technology..........in return for NK's missile technology.

......But what the heck.....let's attack Afghanistan and Iraq anyway.

6. Here is why we are NOT better off without Saddam
I am sick of people saying that we all agree that the world is better off without Saddam.
WRONG! It COULD have been better off if Saddam was removed the right way. He was not. It was reckless and everyone is worse off.

Here is an analogy...

7. Semantics.
YES WE ARE NOT BETTER OFF NOW THAN WE WERE BEFORE WE INVADED IRAQ.

Just got a mortgage insurance bill that went up 25%. No reason..just our lovely economy.

8. excellent
especially when you put it in that text.

I think that we forget that we too have atrocities here, we just justify it with "the chrisitan coaliation" saying it's for the best because God would have wanted it. I am a strong believer in God and I KNOW he doesn't approve of alot of what the propaganda is saying.

I think what goes around DOES come back around...but it just needs a nudge sometimes!
