I'm expecting ALOT of bad news reports about Democrats the next few months
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 07:06 PM by blm
Not because they have done anything criminal or unethical, but because the bad news for the Republicans will be increasing by leaps and bounds with the Fitzgerald investigation and Abramoff case.

The media will bend over backwards to try to make some bad news for the Democrats in an effort to provide a false "balance" to their newscasts.

The smallest infraction by any Dem will be magnified greatly. Every word will be examined and spun against them. Every slight disagreement will be viewed as an irreparable division.

That is how it works - the GOP will use what control they have over the media to make it look like the Dems are just as bad in hopes of driving the voting public to stay home and deliver a pox on both their houses rebuff in Nov.2006.

Please watch out for these traps. Media will be in overdrive.

1. You are probably right
Of course the flip side to this is that we probably do have some skeletons in our representatives closets, which really sucks.

9. teensy tiny skeletons, comparatively speaking
About the difference between a bj and a lie to take a country into deadly combat.

26. Everyone in government who is breaking the law needs to be stopped.
I, for one, will never condone the cover-up of a crime just because it may have been Democrats and not the Republicans committing it. But as it is so far, they have come up with nothing more on the Dems than name-calling and false statements about veteran's war records.

2. I concur..
Each and every new revelation will be followed by some relatively minor infraction, so that the last one mentioned (the one designed to stay in your mind) will be the free hot dog the Dem accepted at some ribbon cutting photo-op.

5. I just hope DUers have the good sense to not pile on and be more wary of
anything negative media reports until we get all sides.

3. I'm curious, who allowed media deregulation?
I think it was in 1996. Approved by the same prez who gave us NAFTA.

7. What hurts more was loss of Fairness Doctrine under Reagan.

10. Deregulation of media began under Clinton.
It made a lot of us mad, but we did not truly realize how bad it would get.

12. Yep. It helped the internet in many ways, but what happened in news media
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 07:22 PM by blm
has been a disaster. The attempts by Dems to revisit it and fix it have been shot down.

I remember the execs swearing to congress they wouldn't interfere with media, that there would be a wall that would never be taken down.

Well, Jack Welch blew that wall to smithereens and never looked back. Rupert Murdoch entered the picture and never saw a wall.

Fairness Doctrine must be restored when the Dems win congress in 2006.

14. As did financial deregualtion.
Which gave us Enron, Worldcom, ad nauseum. Unfortunately the working class have gotten the shaft from both parties. It's sad.

23. Actually, alot of that was pushed through in Bush1's last weeks in office.
And alot of deregulation went on in the 80s, with Reagan, Bush and a GOP senate.

11. Been nice if he could have been on record,
of having at least vetoed that piece of crap. The "on bended knee to GOP" media started during Carter administration though. It just got thicker during the 90s.

4. Starting already.
The Heritage Foundation has an article out today calling all the war critics liars. It even say that women are freer now than before, even though intelligent people know that is a lie.

I am very afraid about what is coming.

6. one thing i always notice
right wingers talk about the 'liberal media' and left wingers say it is the 'right wing media'. you know what i think? most media is probably moderate and actually fair and balanced (with notable exceptions like Faux News and the WSJ on the right and the NYT on the left)

just my two cents

peace

13. I don't agree because,
I see the media often parroting stuff about liberals and centrists that are false. They may spend a lot of time criticizing republicans but they leave out the good stuff like the Plame scandal as an example. They weakly criticize republicans so that they can build up credibility to hammer democrats more effectively.

25. No doubt ...
Watch any of the Sunday shows with panels, MSNBC or CNN, and every time a clear republican corruption/incompetency is discussed they can't help but put the rider on about how "but Ds are just as bad ..." EVERY flipping time ...

Chris Mathews does a piece on Abramov, a situation HE KNOWS is VERY deep, and is 98% republican, and he makes a point of saying, "but, corruption is a non-paritisan issue ..." Meet the Press or any of those other panels, they always have to take pot shots at Ds to balance out what is going on with the Rs ...

29. That's a perfect example. Somehow 98% GOP corruption = 2% Dem corruption.
Only a GOP controlled media could make that happen.

18. That's not my take on it.
The rwing corporate media is bias and the Toykoroses like limpbaugh try to perpetuate the lie that it is a "liberal media" so the rwing media can keep right on doing what they're doing so well.

People are catching on though but not nearly enough.

27. So...
..if Hitler's good Germans called him a great guy, and the naughty German resistance called him an evil monster -- he was actually somewhere in the middle? A moderately good guy, if you will?

Just because the public is split on something doesn't mean the truth lies somewhere down the middle.

8. When Republicans are in trouble...
...they cast a wide net. Chris Matthews has started it already. When talking about the the Abramoff scandal, Matthews said (paraphrasing) that BOTH parties are involved...this isn't just about the Republicians. He says it goes on in both parties.

15. Thanks for the warning..I'm
already on to their little game. They twist and spin so fiercely on the Dems..there has already been some stuff the last few days..like the Dems pulling away from Pelosi.

I'm checking that out.

bush has been so grossly negligent that it's been such a tough job for the corporate media to cover his tracks. I guess they still have time to make up stories about the Dems, though.

Read Chris Matthews transcripts and the others closely. Leading the parade is that Orin bitch from the New York Post. BTW that Tweety just loves to have Orin on his whore program.

Your 100% right blm.
