Message on marquee in front of Kalamazoo Christian High School:
This is where the uber-Christians send their little onward Christian soldiers for a good, solid, Christian education. The message read:

Holiday Dance, December 10, 8pm to 11:30pm.

HOLIDAY dance. But yet they're the very people who are going ape shit about calling the ole' tannenbaum a "holiday" tree. What the fuck is wrong with these people? If they're going to go into apoplexy at the mention of "holiday" by the rest of us, why the hell does their marquee say "HOLIDAY dance?"

1. maybe they're being nudge wink precious(?)
(maybe)... they think of the herd with marvellous contempt, as if a publicly posted sign which emphasises the nonsense of 'political correctness' and suggests they're victims of dastardly forces marching across amerka forcing them to use 'holiday' in place of 'christmas'...and enough cud chewers believe them superficially (this is where nudge wink comes in) that after it's all over the xians say 'see, the godless are raping amerka!' and maybe amerka gets mobilized etc, meanwhile there'e lotsa money missing from the banks, and the govern. coffers etc
it's taking candy from a baby....
otoh they could just be dimwitted hypocrites

4. I'm actually thinking of crafting a LTTE....
Something tongue-in-cheek, a parody of what a holy-roller might write.

3. Wait...They're having a dance?
I was raised Southern Baptist (but later came to my senses)...there was no dancing....dancing was sinful. The first school dance that I wanted to go to, I had to sit in a dark room with the preacher's wife and talk about why I wanted to go to the dance. I got the whole speech about how dancing leads to sex. This was in the mid-80s. I assured her that I was intelligent enough to know that sex at the age of 12 was not in my plan, so I was allowed to go.

It does crack me up that they are calling it a Holiday Dance...I suppose they will say that they had to call it that to avoid persecution.

12. NGU, bet you can relate to "Footloose".
Just got the DVD from the library, and watched it again after many years.

What a great soundtrack!
