DAY 6. 12/3/05 DRUMBEAT to PEACE. Write or call now.
Hello all,

This is a request to join me. I will continue to hit people up for sending letters, emails, faxes...making phone calls and otherwise publicizing our deep protest of this war's continuation. In so doing, I've learned about some resources that helped me and could help you too.

If you go to the links below you will find some great connections to newspaper editors, state congress, tv stations, etc. Just tell them in a couple of sentences or more that we as a nation of people want OUR TROOPS HOME. THe idea is to get a gathering wave of more and more and more people registering their complaint with regularity.

It doesn't replace discussions in church or at work or in charity organizations. It doesn't replace protest rallies or showing up in public sessions of city council and protesting, but it will make a difference. We NEED to let the congresspeople and mainstream media know there is deep and abiding hatred of the continued killing and waste of U.S. treasury on a faulty war.

other suggestions: type in your state and .gov such as "oregon.gov" or "missouri.gov" to find other resources and contact info for your own state.

In addition, I will be continuing to put together my own offline list of resources for each state and national contacts. Please send an email a day. Or maybe email 5 people today. Or maybe call someone on Monday. Each person doing a little will accomplish a lot.

More than that, share with others this "DRUMBEAT FOR PEACE" and pass it along. THe more people are aware others are activating...the more they realize they are not alone....the more motivated they will be.

I've already written and gotten responses from multiple newspapers today. They are responding. We will be heard.

1. I don't give up..but I also don't get it. Isn't DU always talking about
"Grass roots"? Well, I have been a member of DU since about 2002 sometime. I have had periods where I was quite active and others were too. For some reason, these days I get the idea there is not as much traffic as say....in 2004. AM I wrong? I do know the activity is more diffused now that DU has so many boards.

But I guess I'm in the final analysis asking for suggestions on how best to raise this campaign of mine for grass roots momentum building against the war.

How can I see what others are doing? What is a better way to encourage people to bring energy to the letter writing and activism campaign against this war?

In every other battle I've seen US citizens get involved in with any effect, it has been the volume of letters to congress and media that have signaled our anger and non negotiable stance.

having 500 protesters here, 1,000 protesters there and every so often the D.C. mall filled with 500,000 or more is definitely a way to get people engaged and garner attention, but it is the relentless letter writing and callin and things like this that scare senators straight. It's what causes editors to see what their readers really care about.

What do some of you suggest for me to get this thing kicked off better?
