Waiting for the "christians" to freakout & fulminate about Brokeback Mtn.
Maybe I've missed it, but I'm sort of amazed that good, patriotic, "christian", rightwing, family-oriented, freeper folks like James Dobson, Bill O'Reilly, Jerry Falwell, Ralph Reed, Phyllis Schlafly, etal., have not already been publicly freaking out/ranting/condemning about 'Brokeback Mountain' which opens next week. ('Brokeback Mountain' is the new, major movie, winner of the Venice Film Festival, directed by Ang Lee, and starring Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as 2 GAY cowboys.) Did you hear me? GAY COWBOYS. A love story between 2 men. They kiss and have sex. On screen. And its opening right smack-dab in the middle of the Holiday Season. Even Jesus is gonna be pissed and come down to kick some ass because we all know Jesus and God hate & abominate the gay lifestyle (I was goint to say "all faggots" but opted for political correctness.) Rupert Murdoch and everyone at Fox News are gonna have a massive, nuclear-powered orgasm/hissy-fit of hatred, and its just perfect for diverting their audiences' attention from Bush's monumental failures & fuck-ups. Maybe this movie has so far flown under the freeper/rightwing/"christian"/Republican radar, but I'm just amazed the American Taliban aren't already rioting in the streets and on TV and the Internet about how evil, nefarious and un-American the movie and its subject matter are. Damn, I was kinda' hoping Pat Robertson might get so upset he'd turn all red, sputter, keel over and croak from homophobic rage.

5. I didn't hear too much about RENT either
Now if that isn't a movie that needs a Falwell moment, I don't know what is. . .story narrated by a struggling filmaker (who just lost g/f to another woman) as he watches his friends deal with having aids (one of whom is gay and dating a drag queen).

7. How about this movie!
TransAmerica

...
Stanley is a perfectly adjusted, conservative trans-sexual who’s about to take the final step to becoming Bree, the woman he always wanted to be - until he finds out that he is the parent of a long-lost 17 year old son. Afraid to tell the rebellious teen-ager the truth, he embarks on a journey with him that will challenge and change both their lives.

8. I'm sure they'll be foaming at the mouth about morality
After all, a good "christian" can't see a film about loving unless it's an overly wraught, S/M fantasy about Jesus being nailed to the cross in slow motion.

9. Yeah, they can't possibly support any movie that doesn't
involve mercilessly killing fags, foreigners or other "undesirables".

11. It looks like a sweet movie.
I'll watch it, and Rent, too.

And somehow, I doubt it will make me want to leave my wife.

So what is it the fundies are afraid of?

12. Both movies got two "thumbs up"....
from Ebert and Roeper on their show. I'm not sure about Rent but both hosts had glowing recommendations for Bback Mtn and Transamerica.

They addressed the fundie issue by saying people should just "get over it."

Yep, I'll just sit back and eat my popcorn as I watch the fundie brains explode.

And I'll definitely go see these movies, right after Syriana.
