Camel Club
I'm reading a good book called The Camel Club by Richard Baldacci.
It's a fiction book but it's set in the current political climate......there are references to 9/11, terrorism, etc

Anyway, in this one part it poses an interesting question. One of the President's advisors is briefing him on current conditions in the Middle East and he tells him that a (now Democratic) Iraq is taking steps to create the extermination of Israel. And since the US was largely responsible for the democracy in Iraq,it puts us in a difficult position. I mean, do we support a democracy in Iraq so long as we agree with what they are doing? And what happens when they do something we don't agree with?

I think it's very likely that something like this could happen. I don't know if they would try to eliminate Israel but somewhere down the road, they're (Iraq) going to do something that we don't agree with and what happens then?

After all, several of the people in the current administration supported Saddam at one time! And we've all seen how they made him into public enemy #1!

Anyway, I've read about a third of the book. It's a good story! I would certainly recommend it if you're looking for a good book.

1. I think you've already answered your own question--
After all, several of the people in the current administration supported Saddam at one time! And we've all seen how they made him into public enemy #1!

I think they'll stick with the "if the rewriting-history-tactic ain't broke, don't fix it" option on any future disagreements. It's been working for them so far.

The book sounds interesting. I'll check it out.

2. I read it, a bit far fetched but a fun read.
I loved the characters, especially the conspiracy theorist with the hidden past who calls himself Oliver Stone.

It takes place several years in the future, the Middle East is still a mess--Iraq has morphed into an Islamic state allied to Iran and the Saudi Royal family has been overthrown.

When the book ended, I wanted to stay in the world that David Baldacci had created and that's about the best thing you can say about any book.

3. I'm enjoying the book...........
I'm especially intrigued by the murder. I'm thinking that maybe the drugs were planted in the dead guy's house to make it look like it was a revenge killing. But even if the drugs were planted, how did the guy get enough money to buy such a nice house? How else could he have afforded that house on the salary he was making?

I love a good mystery anyway..........

Yeah, I like the Stone character.........he seems interesting. And I'm thinking I will find out more about him later. I also like the agent, Alex too.

That's a good comment that you still wanted to remain in that world at the end of the book. I love a good book but at the same time when I get to the end, I'm thinking..........oh no! There's no more to read!!
