My sister who trains Guardsman at Camp Shelby showed me an official brochure regarding do's and don'ts in the Middle East.
You are never ever to show a Muslim the bottom of your feet or shoes. You are always to sit flat-footed or sit with you feet under you. Showing the soles of your feet or shoes is the same as flipping off someone over there. I had seen this before in video from the Gulf War with old women shaking their shoes at bus loads of Iraqis being sent back from Kuwait.
I guess they have taken it to a new level.
