Friendly with Rove, Donna Brazile now cozies up to Santorum
NYT: No 'Red' or 'Blue' in the Green Room
By ANNE E. KORNBLUT
Published: December 4, 2005
WASHINGTON

DONNA BRAZILE calls them green room conversions.

One of her more recent went something like this: Ms. Brazile, the garrulous Democratic strategist, found herself in the waiting room - known in the world of television talk shows as the green room - with Senator Rick Santorum, the conservative Republican from Pennsylvania who campaigned to defeat her candidate, Al Gore, in the 2000 presidential campaign.

The two, awkwardly thrown together with little to do except contemplate the pastry spread, started to chat politely.

"Santorum and I, we're both Catholic, we're both from large families and we just struck up a conversation that ended up continuing, and I went over to his office one morning and had breakfast," Ms. Brazile said, ticking off the issues, from AIDS to faith-based institutions, on which the two have consulted since. "I have met a lot of people I would normally not even talk to," said Ms. Brazile, a regular on the talk show circuit. "Somehow in the green room you put all that aside. It's time for small chatter."

In a town full of back-room deals and strange bedfellows, green rooms create some of the most surprising arrangements of all. For a few minutes before every talk show, in a small corner of every television studio in Washington, partisans and journalists who are sworn enemies in public share a moment of peace. Sometimes they swap phone numbers. Occasionally they leak information. At least one man met his future wife....

2. "Red Light" Brazile strikes again
She's so fucking sickening - and untalented.

Whatever it takes to get her face on TV or her name in the paper.

What is her actual job? Who hires this woman?

4. The media goes to her, I am convinced, because
she is so weak against what ever conservative is on the panel opposite her.....

She was horrible as Gore Campaign manager...

Absolutely horrible...

Gore could have carried Ohio in 2000 but she and her crack team of incompetent insiders decided Ohio wasn't winnable..

37. This is what they do
It was told on the film "Outfoxed" that what they do is they get really weak democrats and gang up on them to where it makes them look like fools and thus the party.

26. The DNC?? (not sure...asking)
On a post recently (but not recently enough for me to find easily) there was something Brazile did where she was involved with the DNC, and I said, WTF? why is she even involved? and someone replied that Dean hired her for the DNC.

I hope that is not true, or that if it is, he has subsequently come to his senses. I respect Dean a lot but if he appointed Brazile to anything, I really wonder why.

5. "Cozies"? As Founder/Member/President Of A Small Woman's Group I Had To:
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 10:45 AM by cryingshame
* Make artwork as birthday and holiday presents for people I loathed and whom I knew were attempting to stab me in the back.

* Attend parties at said wretches' homes and entertain them at mine own.

* Chat pleasantly and be nice to the barracudas.

By surface appearances, you'd think I was "cozy" with these women.

DU'ers that trash Democrats who interact with GOP'ers apparently have limited experience in working within groups and WITH groups ones not affiliated with.

14. I've done the same kind of thing, cryingshame -- I agree.
But Brazile's relationships with Rove and Santorum seem to me totally a matter of choice, and not related to a need to interact for any productive purpose.

You make a good point, however. I think our Dem-trashing sometimes gets out of hand.

valid fodder for criticism.

some one who doesn't agree with you do you just start jumping on them?

Let's say in the grocery store you just start arguing with a lady cuz you see a bush sticker on her car? You just start yelling about stem cell and abortin right there @ the check out counter?

22. There is a time and a place for all things. You can't just start jumping
on people. Is it the first time that they've met?

I would only as a person something like that after I've met them a few times so they feel comfortable answering.

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

It's a dance not a rave.

all bad.

I'll take one for the team. I'll hang with Sanscrotum, get close find out what makes him tick, find out about why his brain works so wrong bring it back to the camp and let y'all use it to tear him down.

It doesn't hurt to have someone on the inside.

Apparently y'all have forgotten about that.

in the effort to make Santorum seem like less of the lunatic that he is. What does she gain from this besides exposure? What does Santorum gain? A softening of his well-deserved image as a nutcase.

29. Are we happy with the state of divisivness in America?
Sometime, somewhere, we have to bridge the divide that seperates Americans. I never want to give in to Republicans but a Divided America is a weak America and I mean that in all manner. We must learn how to talk to each other once again. I place most blame on Hate Redio and the GOP Echo chamber but we are not blameless. I hate the feeling of disgust I hold for a portion of americans. I never used to hold such feelings even during Nixon or Reagan. There was still respect shown by all parties. then came Rush and Newt and that ilk and gone was the Respect and in place was the hate and division. Sometime it has to stop........If Donna Brazile can make inroads to that goal then may the force be with her....
