It occured to me...Bush IS what he warned us about Saddam
Bush justified the war by portraying Saddam as a beligerent, antagonistic threat to his neighbors and the world in general. He painted Saddam as the type of leader who would engage in pre-emptive, unprovoked wars for personal gain. I dunno, but this type of characterization has a certain ring of familiarity to it....(sarchasm). Has anyone else come to this conclusion?!

1. Follow this thought through
with everything they say. Are they patriotic when they lie and obstruct the laws? Are they for family values when they want to do the bidding of the corporations and not let our jobs be outsourced and against a minimm wage increase? Are they Christian when they kill without thought of innocence? Are their policies good for the economic health of the country when they create our deficits?

They are the opposite of whatever they say.

Welcome to DU Lyle!

3. You might be on to something
You're not the only one who has noticed this! ;)

The very fact that he never decided to fight the ones who took part in the attack on us--the Saudis--but instead went after Iraq, whom we defeated fourteen years ago but without gaining control of their oil fields, says something too.

He drops hints as to who else he wants to fight. Great. It actually could get worse.

:scared:

4. US and Saudis
The Bushes are extremely close with the House of Saud. I don't think the Saudis were involved in 9/11 - in fact, I think the whole stunt was prepared deliberately to kick off the war on terror (aka: oil grab). Perhaps we never had any intention of nabbing Osama - he did the job he was hirted to do, and we went through some of the motions to make it look like we were after him when we attacked Afghanistan. But we never caught him - deliberately. It was all a ruse.

7. What you stated here...that's what I've thought for a long time...and
Many people have thought this too. So we ALL can't be wrong. I don't know if you've read Craig Unger's book about the House of Saud and Bush Inc.

Much food for thought in the book.

5. It's distressing to make parallels to Hitler....
I know that...it tends to be over the top.
But following the view of Bush's speech on the war, I can't help but have this knot in my gut.

1. WTF are we a country supporting this A-hole and his bid to....through AGRESSION....perform REGIME change in other countries. And the talk is not just Iraq...it's Iran, it's possibly Korea, etc.
Since when has America given in to a leader that has such designs as using the pretence of freedom to implement pro-US regimes throughout the world.

No..it's not as insidious as Hitler...but it uses the same rah rah talk about patriotism, nationalism, and what's good for the people. It presupposes that war is inevitable.

2. The ranting by Limbaugh, Bushco et al that anyone who is Anti-War is weak....traced right back to Vietnam....and how this spells THE END OF THE US as we know it....is the same type of rah rah rant that embraced the Germans. WAR becomes everything....a way of life....and if you don't get that...aka we're in this interminable war on terror....then you just aren't an American.

It's getting really deep....
It's getting very insidious....

We have to look at the lessons learned in history.
And the rise of the Nazi and how they used patriotism and war to make aggression look inevitable is too strongly paralleled in this situation.

10. I think a lot of us came to this conclusion ...
... a while ago - I know I did. When they were reading off the list of Saddam's crimes, there wasn't one that didn't apply to BU$HCO.

As for comparisons to Hilter & Gang, they're all too real -- and now we even have the 'secret prisons' (aka concentration camps) to prove the point.

11. He means well.... then again, isn't white phosphorous a wmd? Isn't
carpet bombing a little extreme?? Isn't a daisy cutter a wmd? Isn't the U.S. military hardware a wmd? Doesn't taking out water and electrical infrastructure equate to using wmd? Isn't depleted uranium a wmd? GW is a walking talking (so say) wmd.

12. Many thought * was talking about hisself when he talked about Saddam
One of my favorites was when he was meeting with Blair in Crawford at the time of the Downing Street Memos, and one of the reasons * gave for saying that Saddam was a bad man was, "Clearly, he has something to hide." Course, now we know he was talking about his evil self.
