"White House: Death Penalty Deters Crime"
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush strongly supports the death penalty in the belief that "ultimately it helps save innocent lives," his spokesman said Friday as the United States marked its 1,000th execution since capital punishment resumed in 1977.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan said it was important that the death penalty "be administered fairly and swiftly and surely, and that helps it serve as a deterrent." He noted that Bush promoted an initiative to expand the use of DNA evidence to prevent wrongful convictions.

As governor of Texas, a state that executes more inmates than any other, Bush commuted one death sentence and allowed 152 executions during his six years in office.

The 1,000th execution took place in Raleigh, N.C., early Friday, where Kenneth Lee Boyd received a lethal injection. He was convicted of killing his estranged wife and father-in-law in 1988.

1. Such A Crock Of Crap.
Many murders are due to spur of the moment passion, upon which the thought of death penalty wouldn't even cross the mind.

The others murders are premedidated, and I doubt the thought of the DP or the thought there state doesn't have one is what causes them to act otherwise. Their motivation is to not get caught, period. Not whether if they got caught, at least they aren't facing the DP.

The DP is a deterrent argument is just ludicrous on its face.

* Republican culture of corruption First Commandment subclause 13c "special" EXCEPTION allows torture and death to be practiced in a ritual way by former cheerleaders with an AWOL military past, and by secret members of occult cabals such as the BushCo Holy Roller Dominionist Skull & Boner Klan & Kronies, Inc.

5. The Bu$h legacy: Death and destruction.
I wonder how it feels: Being responsible for 15.2% of those 1000 executions? Or 2100+ US deaths in Iraq? Or tens of thousands of Iraqi deaths? Or the other unfortunate victims of the BFEE? How does it feel, you vapid little moron?

7. Culture of life question - i thought the methodist church was against
the death penality. I think that if faux wants to become a christian broadcasting station in intresting segment is where Bush and his church disagree. Note I am not picking on methodist, just the people who say you cant pick and choose and than do.

8. Treason has a US federal penalty of death
And it doesn't seem to have stopped the bastards in the White House. Why do they claim it stops other people?

11. You mean as in Nicolae Ceaucescu?
The Romanian leader who was overthrown in Romania in 1989; he and his wife were both convicted of mass murder and other atrocities, and executed Christmas Day 1989.
