Call Ford and ask why they market to African-Americans -- but not to gays
Edited on Mon Dec-05-05 07:01 PM by StefanX

Some of you may have heard about the growing firestorm caused by Ford's cave-in to the homophobes at the American Family Association (Dobson's gang), who just forced Ford to pull their ads from gay publications.

Apparently Ford's marketing people are already blocking incoming emails, but I'm posting the contact phone numbers for some of Ford's marketing people below (scroll down). Feel free to give them a call.

Ford has produced award-winning ad campaigns for the African-American, Hispanic-American and Asian-American markets. Maybe you could ask Ford what they'd do if the KKK demanded they stop advertising to these minority groups.

Ford Motor Company embraces homophobia in order to appease religious right -- Americablog.org

Ford confirms pulling ads to appease anti-gay religious right bigots; company didn't want to advocate for the "gay agenda" -- Americablog.org

This is the hateful American Family Association message that Ford is now apparently embracing -- Americablog.org

Bet someone at Ford is choking on their Danish this morning -- Steve Gilliard

Jaguar, Land Rover ads halted in gay media, Ford confirms -- The Advocate

Do a little googling and you'll see that Ford happens to be very proud of their highly effective ad campaigns geared towards other important minority market segments, such as African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Asian-Americans:

FORD DIVISION LEADS WAY IN NEXT MARKETING FRONTIER: BRAND INTEGRATION - Multicultural Efforts

One of the most dramatic transformations under way in the automotive marketplace involves the growth of ethnic minorities. Ford is intensifying its efforts to better connect with African-American, Hispanic and Asian-American consumers in a comprehensive cross-media multicultural campaign.

Building on the success of the multicultural campaign for the 20004 F-150 and the 2005 Focus, Ford’s new multicultural advertising will include television, print, radio and Internet marketing efforts designed for specific ethnic groups. Zubi Advertising (Hispanic), Uniworld Group (African-American), and PanCom International (Asian-American) have developed advertising that showcases Ford’s new vehicles in a unique and creative way.

So... Ford's award-winning ad campaigns for the African-American, Latino-American and Asian-American markets is just a smart business decision -- but when child-beating advocate SpongeDog Stickypants from the American Taliban Family Association tells Ford to stop marketing to gays, Ford immediately caves in to the bigots.

I'm going to call EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE PHONE NUMBERS BELOW AT FORD and ask them: If the Ku Klux Klan told Ford to stop marketing to African-Americans and Hispanic-Americans and Asian-Americans, would Ford take orders from the KKK too? So why is Ford taking orders from the 21st-Century KKK - Dobson's AFA?

Some quotes from Americablog.org:

"Ford wants to dance with bigots, that's fine. But you don't get to do that in the year 2005 and remain a prosperous company in America."

"Message to corporate America: When the 21st century incarnation of the Klan comes knocking, tell them to go to hell."

"If they think they're above the fray and too big to be influenced by the mean homosexuals, they ought to give Bill Gates a call and see what happened to Microsoft when they endorsed outright bigotry in order to appease America's Taliban."

3. It is time to call local dealers
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 11:12 AM by kevinbgoode
since it was a group of these dealers who met with the AFA in the first place and spent six months lobbying and planning an executive meeting between Ford and Donald Wildmon.

Americablog has a state-by-state list of local dealers.

4. flame me if you will
but Black, Hispanic are ethnicities. Homosexuality is a choice. While I dont agree they should have done that, I think people are blowing it way out of proportion to forward their little agendas.

5. example
the new mustang doesnt have room for fat people. I'm gonna go picket the dealer's property line until they make cars that will comfortable fit fat people, and if they dont, they are being discriminatory.

Its silly.
