Did you hear the Halliburton story on Olberman?
Halliburton gets $Millions from the US and hires the cheapest labor it can get to work for them. After calculating the hours they work, and they're paid $150 a month, they make about 45 CENTS an hour!

Halliburton said they are from Sierra Leone so you can't compare their wages with those in the US!

4. I can't believe there's not something written into the contract
to prevent that! I know I heard about "cost plus" contracts the Gov't has issued in the past! Thing is, they were issued to contract manufacturers I think.

Doesn't this sound like it's illegal to you? Misuse of public funds, or SOMETHING????

I knew they were hiring workers from Africa and I knew they were working them horrendous hours for a pittance of money, but I did not know ONE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH was how pittance of a pittance it is.

I am sickened beyond words.

And even if you wanted to be purely pragmatic about it, we're supposedly in a war because these people HATE US, so what do our brilliant corporations do, fuck them over so they'll hate us even more.

6. I doubt that's the way it works.
I bet they get a contract to "perform a job" and they are free to hire any workers, from anywhere, at any price, as long as the job gets done.

If you listened to Keith, that's about what he said too.

"Hallliburton gets the $Million contracts then hires the cheapest labor they can find."

7. It's the Wall Street way, for-profit corps with investors must bleed the
worker to death to make a profit. Halliburton is not the only one. Look around Amerika and you will see many other examples of this. Keeps the stock holders happy.

10. I saw it and I bet there is questionable billing to the government
that is - you and me. Do you think that Halliburton is itemizing the labor cost of these literal "wage slaves" at 45cents an hour?

I doubt it. I bet these workers are being billed to the US government at $50.00 an hour or far more. The show said that you had to figure in the costs of their housing, security, transportation, etc. but I would think those things would be billed separately and would not be built into the hourly wage. I mean, give me a break!

How stupid are we? - pretty stupid. What kind of government oversight do we have? - how about none.

Remember those stories you read about in high school history classess about people who sold the Union Army cardboard boots? Those guys could give ethics seminars to these guys.
