The era of democratic pacifism needs to end
If we're ever going to win against these thugs.

The beating of Paul Mirecki was just another example of how things have already gone too far.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2005/dec/05/mirecki_hospitalized_after_beating/?breaking

There is no turning back now. We either fight them now or bow down to them forever.

For those of you who remain apolitical in real life, it's time to plaster an "impeach bush" sticker on your car.

For those of you who prefer to keep a low political profile in real life, it's time to criticize this administration any chance you get in public, regardless of who you're going to offend. The more you offend, the better. No use preaching to the choir.

For those of you sick of the media silence, it's time to start writing letters to the editor. Even if they won't publish them, keep writing them. Somebody is reading them.

Perhaps it started with Carter, but democrats have this tendency to turn their cheek and "take the higher road" when confronted. I saw it with Kerry all the way down to the grassroots level last year.

When I volunteered for Kerry, I saw it on the streets of Miami when a bunch of Bush-loving Cuban right-wingers came out and stood on the other side of the street where he were campaigning. Yes, we were outnumbered, but the cops were there to keep the peace.

Nevertheless, the dems -- with the exception of me who was taking photos -- decided to go back inside the office. I protested, but I kept hearing the same thing: "We don't want to stoop down to their level". All we were doing is exercising our freedom of speech just as the facists were doing.

Around that same time, Kerry, a Purple Heart winner, was being accused by the draft-dodging Bush administration as being a bad soldier. So what did he do? He turned the other cheek, took the higher road, and ended up losing the election (yeah, I know it was stolen, but the gap was narrow enough to allow them to do it).

I understand that democrats are passive by nature.

Contrary to the right-wingers, most of us have a "live and let live" attitude.

Contrary to the right-wingers, most of us sympathize with the underdog, the downtrodden, the homeless.

Contrary to the right-wingers, we are able to think for ourselves rather than with that military bloc mentality they do, which makes it easier for them to use intimidation tactics against us.

But now it's time for us to fight fire with fire. To never let them have the last word. To get in their fucking face until they back down, even if it is your neighbor or friend or family member.

And it's time to be ready to physically fight them if they start it. Yes, we need to learn how to defend ourselves physically rather than just walk away. It's war right now.

And it's time to buy a gun. I know most of you are anti-gun, but let's face it, we live in the USA where guns are never going away. And it's your constitutional right.

Had I been Paul Mirecki, those two thugs would have been dead right now because I carry a gun and I'm not afraid to use it.

After all, just because I believe in "live and let live" doesn't mean I won't kill if I'm threatened.

1. Why all of a sudden now? Americans don't like it. It won't reach out
to the middle. Jeez, shouldn't we teach them how to be peaceful. What will the world come to if we all started fighting?

2. agree
Not my style to get into people's faces.

I also don't discuss politics generally with acquantainces. I work with a freeper type but I just shrug when he brings up politics and give no opinion.

I don't agree at all with the OP's message.

11. The sarcasm smilie doesn't work as much as we would like it to sometimes

As I learned last week on the "calling women girls" thread. I was just sarcastically reciting what I had heard from some women, but it fell flat.

4. Just checked my voter registration card. Says Democrat, not Doormat
You make some very good points. The only way to deal with bullies is to stand up to them. Yeah, sometimes they will lash out, but I figure the odds are better that I'll get hit by another car on the road than a neocon patsy who can land a punch.

The fact that Paul Mirecki was attacked by TWO men where no one else was around shows just what sort of courage we are dealing with. Ambush, gee, such brave, brave lads so sure they are on the side of the one true faith.

Stand up to them, and don't be surprised if you have to do more. But there is no freedom under fear.

14. "Turning the other cheek" is not "taking the high road"
taking the high road is standing your ground and confronting smears to your character head on.

1. Impeach Bush bumper stickers.

2. Speak out.

4. Shoot two guys if they start to beat you.

Okay. Got it.

Whew! You are such a radical!
