Stores you should shop at this HOLIDAY season
Just to stop right wing hate groups like the american family association.

* Target (612) 304-6073 Guest.Relations@target.com
Target refuses to use the word "Christmas" in any of their corporate advertising. Their latest 36-page ad insert did use the phrase "holiday" 31 times. In addition, Target has banned the Salvation Army bell ringers from their stores, but opted to sell items online for customers to donate to the Salvation Army. Ironically, Target doesn't give a single cent to them, but profits from your purchase. They also charge you to ship the item to the Salvation Army.

* Sears (847) 286-2500 nationalcustomerservice@sears.com
Sears, owned by Kmart, is advertising "Holiday" trees on page seven of their circular. It also was noticeably absent of the word "Christmas."
Lowe's (800) 445-6937

We are pleased to update you about Lowe’s sale of Christmas trees. Lowe’s informed the AFA yesterday that it is removing banners referring to “holiday trees” from its stores (the actual product signs inside Lowe’s stores did say Christmas trees, but the outside banner did not). Lowe’s says it has proudly sold Christmas trees in its stores for decades, and continues to do so this year in all of its stores nationwide. All 49 varieties of live and artificial trees at Lowe’s and on Lowes.com are labeled as Christmas trees.

Lowe’s assures AFA that the language on the banner was a mistake, and was not in any way an attempt to remove Christmas from the season.

We applaud Lowe’s for listening to its customers and responding to their concerns. Just as we alerted Lowe’s to our concerns, now let’s show them our support by sending thank you emails and shopping in their stores. Click Here To Thank Lowe's Now!

Office Max (877) 484-3629 williambonner@officemax.com
Office Max offers no "Christmas" in their advertising.
Kmart (800) 635-6278 kmartccn@kmart.com
Kmart promotes a "Holiday Sale" on their website. Links to the trees webpage asks if you "Need it by Christmas," but refers you to its "Holiday Shipping Dates" section.
Staples (800) 378-2753 experts@orders.staples.com
In searching for "Christmas" on their website, results show only three matches. Staples ads avoid using "Christmas."
Home Depot (800) 430-3376 consumer-affairs@homedepot.com
Home Depot says "In order to avoid endorsing a particular set of beliefs and to encourage the diversity we desire, The Home Depot has chosen to refer to this time of year as the 'Holiday Season'."
Best Buy (888) 237-8289 dick.schulze@bestbuy.com
Best Buy offers no "Christmas" in their advertising.
Kohl's (866) 887-8884 larry_montgomery@kohls.com
Kohl's offers no "Christmas" in their advertising.

2. Hey most I wouldn't shop at
but we need to show stores that it is OK to ignore right wing hate groups like the AFA. We shop there and they don't see any change in their sales, even though the AFA tried to black mail them.

7. Target has policy of allowing pharmacists to refuse filling prescriptions
based on personal beliefs. As long as they do that, I won't shop there.

I've been thinking more about this since Toad's
post yesterday and have more ideas.

How about gift certificates at local (not chain) restuarants? Also, gift certificates at local spa-type places that do manicures, facials, massages, etc.

Around here, at least, most health food stores are local and/or co-op and they have a lot of intriguing things like natural soaps, nuts, etc.

And antique shops are always local. I personally love gifts like old fashioned tea cups and stuff like that, but there are also lots of 60's and 70's retro items that are fun.

3. Target's Salvation Army policy.
It's sad they took so much flak for this when it was simply the most reasonable thing to do, and something all stores should adopt, IMNSHO. They basically asked, why should only the Salvation Army be allowed to solicit for donations in front of our store? They didn't want to be put in the position of turning down all the other very worthy causes, and it's certainly logistically impossible to let EVERYONE solicit, so they did the wise thing and just said No.

4. I had to go to Sears the other day and was greeted at the door
by an 8 1/2 X 11 sign taped to each door that said Merry Christmas. White with black lettering. They looked odd to me, like they had been an afterthought or a rush job.

5. You're being as ridiculous as O'Reilly
If a tree is intended to be used as part of a Christmas celebration, why shouldn't it be referred to as a Christmas tree? I'm not even aware of little pine trees being used as part of any other modern day celebration. Of course if you own a store and want to call them "holiday trees", I could care less and I certainly won't boycott you for it.

8. I don't want stores caving to right wingnuts like AFA
If we don't support the stores and they lose sales due to an AFA boycott, they will cowtow to them in the future. It has nothing to do with what they call their Christmas Trees. It has everything in stopping a group of evil Nazis.

10. Just more proof that
Americans have too much time on their hands. Or at least some of them.

Do I care what it says in the flyer for some store? No I do not.
Do I care if the Salvation Army is outside their door? No I do not.

I celebrate how I choose and give to whom I choose. Aren't these people free to do the same? They are ruining the holidays for everyone with their bullshit.

STFU!

12. Why is the AFA and the RW fascist republicans trying to ruin
Christmas for everyone? Why can't we call it or talk about it or advertise for it in any way we want to? Why are the fascists and their puppets at AFA creating all these negative vibes at a time of year when everyone should try to be joyous and civil - you know, this might actually make the Sun stay away longer, and no one wants that!

Merry Winter Solstice!

13. I'll shop where ever I damn well want to.
Christmas has degenerated into nothing more than religiously backed capitalist spend fest.
Someone please tell me just how the Mathew, Mark, Luke & John version of Christ fits into Christmas as it is now practiced?

You have a problem with the Holiday season instead of the Christmas season, there is something wrong with your religion or the way you practice your religion. What happened to the Christ in Christmas? Far too many Christians sure don't act like the biblical Christ; You know that Jewish, liberal, hippie who went around helping, comforting and teaching how to get along with others.

Happy Holidays All.
