:puke:
My ISP (Earthlink) has a Local News feature on the home page, and I monitor Baton Rouge news as well as my own, and that of another friend's hometown. This morning, I click on one of the stories, to find it's a link from FR! :WTF:
I'm writing to Earthlink (as soon as I figure out just where to direct this e-mail) to let them know that I do NOT consider FR to be a News Source -- and ask them to remove it from their topic sweeper software.
I think I need a shower now. Ugh.
Here's what I sent to Earthlink, under the category of "Feedback/Complaint/LocalNews":
This morning, I clicked on one of the stories in the Baton Rouge section of my Local News, to find I'd wound up on Free Republic.com!
This site is a right-wing message board; it is NOT a legitimate news source, and I was offended and disgusted to find I'd been routed there under the guise of "news".
If you're going to start adding message boards and blogs to your news sources, then Please Say So; and if you feel it necessary to promote Free Republic, then please also add DemocraticUnderground to your topic-sweeper software to provide balance in reporting.
Personally, I'd be happy if you just removed Free Republic from whatever topic-sweeper software you are using and left it at that. I hate giving hits to that site, but more than that, I hate the thought of it being considered a legitimate source of news.
