German who says U.S. imprisoned him sues CIA
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N06340821.htm

WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (Reuters) - The American Civil Liberties Union said on Tuesday it was filing suit on behalf of a German man who says he was wrongly imprisoned by the U.S. government, a legal challenge against one of the spy agency's most prominent tactics in Washington's declared war on terrorism.

The group said it was suing former CIA Director George Tenet on behalf of Khaled el-Masri, who says that in 2003 he became the innocent victim of a CIA tactic known as extraordinary rendition, in which terror suspects are captured and flown to other countries for interrogation.

Human rights advocates say suspects often wind up being tortured in countries of the Middle East and other regions.

The suit charges that Tenet and other CIA officials violated U.S. and universal human rights laws and they authorized agents to kidnap Masri.

1. This lawsuit will last, oh, about an hour in court...
"Your honor, everything we did is classified and declassifying would breach national security."

"Very well, case dismissed."

2. This was a real kidnapping

The man is a German citizen (although of Lebanese origin/heritage, but German nonetheless)

He was crossing the border from Mazedonia into Yugoslavia as far as I know. Two "friendly" states in Eastern Europe. He was taken out of a bus and brought to a hotel and interrogated by Mazedonias and obviously mistaken for somebody else then given to the US agency.
he was the brought to an airport, beaten up, sedated with some drug and woke up somewhere in Afghanistan where the nightmare continued...

After five months they brought him back to some Eastern European border with blindfolded eyes, kicked him out of a van and told him to walk some kilometer to the border station where he says he was welcomed with a knowing smile.

Now THAT's a nightmare!
And when it can happen to a European citizen it can happen to any American too.

How long until YOU'll have a short trip to Afghanistan or Egypt or Syria for a friendly interrogation about the forum articles you wrote here...??
