Dean's Iraq remarks will be the mainstream in a couple of months
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 12:16 PM by Armstead
It's a pattern with old Howard, espcially when it comes to Iraq. He says something that is portrayed as outrageous and over the top....But within a few months, events catch up with him, and what once seemed outrageous become the mainstream conventional wisdom.

I suspect his latest remarks will follow the same pattern.

1. And maybe that's why Reagan was so harsh on Dean.
Because he knows that if they don't stop the point man, that everybody else will feel free to voice their real opinion and the Republican party is really cooked.

2. That's right. Dean is always ahead of the curve.
And, I'm glad he's willing to take the flak because it moves us all forward -- maybe not the party, but all of us. The party will benefit in the long haul

Go, Dean.

4. That 'outrageous' claim is believed by 60% plus of Americans
polled.

Its only 'outrageous' because someone in Washington spoke the truth

an "extremist" when most of the country agrees with her.

It's outrageous because that's what the fax said. :eyes:

10. Ronald Reagan's former advisor Gen. Odem is saying the same thing
Last night on hardball, Gen. Odem said basically the same thing Dean did, in even stronger terms.

And Odem is no former conservative. he also praised Reagan's approach compared to this administration.

9. Tom Delay? Corporate Media?....Take your pick
Also, remember how outrageous his remarks about the racial divide were labeled last year? But then after Katrina the subject came up on its own...

11. Who says it is outrageous? The RW media. They are certainly not
the mainstream.

Dean is the mainstream.

doesn't want public to know that, so they point to Dean or "immediate withdrawal" and distort, distort, DISTORT.

Odom, Perry, Kerry, Cleland, Hagel, Murtha and others have all said that military success is not possible at this point - we can only have political achievements if we pursued them correctly and sincerely.

ALL of these men understand military strategy - Dean's position is not that far off from theirs - only he wants to draw up a compromise 2yr withdrawal plan, while the others are more 6mo - 13mo timeframes.
