5. Franken brings up a good point about the issue being class, not race.
It just happens that the vast majority of the people who were ignored during Katrina were African American.

However, race and class problems are very intertwined.

78. I am SO sick of the fallacy that the term concentration camp cannot
be used because it MUST remain solely in the pervue of those who are referencing those eliminated in the Nazi concentration camps. Concentration camps are built to house unwanteds in one place under guard which is what these women are talking about.

That's where my mother's family spent WWII--a shithole in the desert in Utah. People died there. "Relocation Center"? Naw, concentration camp.

Same thing on the NOLA I-10 overpass, except for no roof over their heads. :cry:

91. I watched the whole thing!!
It was amazing! I had heard things about the levee's being blown up, but I couldn't understand why. One of the witnesses said that a certain area of the levee was blown because they wanted the waters to go to the black section and not the rich, white section of NO.

The lawyer in the second panel said the "looters" took food, etc, and gave it to the people who needed it.

A witness said that 30 unarmed blacks were shot and killed.

When Cynthia McKinney asked if they believed the official death toll, thay all answered "No" in unison.
