Defacing the flag bothers me
I know there are first amendment issues, but really, a high ranking governmental offical should know better and should follow the Flag Code as outlined in Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 8, Paragraph (G) of the United States Code:

The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

It's just so disgusting to see such behavior!

This woman needs to do some hard jail time for Hillary.

Jail the General I say

Not to mention tasteful Trademarking of a man's last words on a 9-11 flight imprinted on a flag.

Or the flag sewn into Bush-Cheney gear made in Burma...

5. Heh. When I first passed this pic to RW'ers. I told them it was Clinton
Cause from the gray and the blurriness, I could be at first glance.

I let them explode, and fume and sputter with absolute outrage...

...then I told them it was *.

And they immediately started rationalizing about how such a thing was OK.

Hypocritical assholes that RW'ers are.

But we already know that.

6. One person's desecration is another person's honor....
I do not see anything different in what Bush is doing versus that of Larry Flynt wearing a flag as a diaper.....both are being made to state a point of view.

But remember, the GOP is the Rule of Law party.....

except when it comes to them, of course.

of such a law that would make it criminal to burn it? Something is seriously wrong with that picture...

8. I hear you, but look at what * signing the flag represents
He did that as President of the United States who is supposed to represent everybody in the country.

The symbolism of that act is one of the entire nation defacing their own flag.

Very telling symbolism.

40. A stamp may be thin, but it's definitely three-dimensional.
And flag stamps still violate the flag code. See Post #39.

"Isn't the American flag stamp in violation of the flag rules?

37¢ stamp
This question has been asked by dozens of visitors to this page. The answer appears to be yes. Section 8e. (see below) reads, "The flag should never be ... used ... in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way." Section 8g. reads, "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark ... of any nature." 8i. reads, " should not be printed or otherwise impressed on ... anything that is designed for temporary use and discard.""

11. Defacing the Constitution bothers me.
The flag is a surrogate for the Constitution. It really bugs the shit out of me that anybody would want to rip up the Constitution to preserve the surrogate.

Burning the flag is speech--free speech. Defend that.

Those dumb rednecks that cover a bridge with flags have NO IDEA how badly they are disrespecting the flag when they do that. I am tempted to burn all but one of the flags on those bridges to restore dignity to the flag. Those idiot moron rednecks make me sick.

I also want to know why Hillary Clinton won't stop all those car dealers from waving them as attention getters, or why we allow China and Korea to make them for us.

It is kinda funny to think of right-wingers fighting for a piece of fabric that says, "made in China."

Why I don't have a problem with the Qur'an being thrown in a toilet

I'm not a Muslim and the text is no more sacred to me than a copy of Gone With the Wind. It doesn't ruffle my feathers like Piss Christ didn't ruffle my feathers because I am not a Christian and a guy nailed to a cross is no more sacred to me than a fat dude sitting in the lotus position laughing.

What's most sacred to me is reporting the truth, and since this incident had been reported multiple times over more than two years, Newsweek being pushed to back down on reporting the truth is the REAL sacrilege if you ask me.

31. Using it to further an agenda is even worse than defacing.
I don't mind defacing in the slightest. It's a symbol. And that's all it is.

BUT, to take it and wrap it around one's self to promote war, or nationalism (in an exclusive way) is the worst thing I can imagine- Pure Bushit.
