The DLC Political Strategy For Democratic Politicians and Officeholders
1.) Turn against your base and seek support of the undecided, swing voters who don't follow politics closely and are easily persuaded by talking points and distraction issues like Gay marriage.

2.) If elected, always vote with the Republicans on every major issue, and rail against your base of support.

3.) If running for election, agree with your Republican opponent on 80%-90% of the issues and suck up to the same corporate donors. Also, don't forget to slam your base of support.

4.) When you lose, blame the Liberals.

15. Point of order.
DLCers are not moderates, they're corporatists.

Not fussing at you - just pointing out that others who are moderate don't necessarily like the DLC, either. :)

... if criticized by your base of support, be sure to attack, attack, attack ... and blame them for attacking "fellow Democrats." (Nobody ever notices when you're doing the very thing you accuse others of doing ... because they're stupid.)

7. Follow the big money.
Always chase after those big corporate bucks.

They can be your own personal cash machine as long as you're their own personal little corporate toady.

I mean, what's so hard about voting for a bankruptcy bill that will snag you huge profits via political donations? It's as easy as saying "yea".

Ya' wanna win, ya' gotta sin.

Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 04:35 PM by Cults4Bush
and if you dont vote DLC when our supporters tell you to you'll hand a win to the right.

and if you say anything bad about the DLC you are trying to hurt the Democratic Party and therefore are a freepy winger (unless you're a liberal, then your wingnut single issue votes make you worse than a freep).

and if you don't like it than get out of the DLCs party, we are the only ones capable of winning an election.

and if you don't like that just be glad we only insult your sense of intelligence and not your entire set of beliefs that you actually think you have a right to vote on (oh wait....).

and and and, we're better than you and more elite than you and only "our" moderate and centrists Dems know what politics is really about.

So shut the fuck up and vote for who we tell you, already.

on edit: some silly word stuff.

Look at the republicans and where they are without it. They kicked out people who didn't agree with them and now look who controls their party. Quite sad really. I don't want the democratic party to come that way.
I also think diversity is important too. Of course there is a difference between being a conservative democrat to being a corporate rightwing whore.

50. If you are suggesting Clinton would have lost without Perot
I'd like to see some data that backs that up.
Everything I have seen looks similar to this...

1996 CNN Exit poll
If Perot Were Not Running
Clinton 50%
Dole 43%
Would Not Vote 5%

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1996/elections/natl.exit.poll/index1.html

My reponse to you has nothing to do with pro- or anti-DLC feelings. I just heard so much "Clinton would never have won without Perot" comments from republican friends that I decided to research it. I have seen no scientific evidence supporting that claim.

Sometimes....:spank:
When you say things in that manner you sound anti Israel and you shouldn't be, define your enemy... always. AIPAC or Likud, never broad brush with Jews or Israel.

Trust me Liberal Progressive Jews are an important part of our "party" and will play a decisive role in any peace that may be brought to this world regarding conflict in the Middle East.

That's what I meant. Sorry. I saw the AIPAC convention on Cspan. At the start they named every Congressperson & Senator in their fold. There were so many names and slides to put up that they needed two barkers naming them alternately. I recall it was half of our representatives.

Not to worry though folks, for all their influence and spooks in the closet, they will come out ok. And this defiant and anxious subthread will just die on a dusty hard drive in Skinner's back room.

41. Here's My Point - Don't Blame The Liberals For Losing Elections
The DLC and their proponents run away from Liberal ideas. They vote with Republicans on tax cuts, the Iraq War, and the bankruptcy bill. The DLC believes that swing voters are the group to target, instead of building a strong ideological base of support.

Look, if the DLC wants to run their elections that way, then fine with me.

JUST DON'T BLAME THE LIBERALS WHEN YOU LOSE. YOU CAN'T BLAME LIBERALS WHEN YOU DON'T RUN ON THEIR ISSUES.

isn't about a portion of the voters getting everything. It is about most groups - getting what they need.

Don't let the GOP smash the democratic party to pieces. We can disagree on stuff and get together and vote so that there is a chance for power. Worked well in the 20th century. There was some great legislation.
