1. Well, Cheney's heart *is* purple.
But that's from having several massive heart attacks.

2. Terribly Wrong!
five deferments dick knows of the sacrifice required to receive a Purple Heart as james dobson knows about (receiving) religious persecution. I realize more and more everyday how terribly pathetic a human being has to be to support this administration. And the picture does not do the Soldier justice. It should be his face and his medal on display, not that of an evil ogre who benefits from the purple hearts earned by the pawns in his game.

7. Absolutely right. In my mind Dick Cheney is unfit to bestow this
honor on a soldier who has been injured in service to our country. Merely touching it should cause the flesh to melt off his hands. The man has no shame or decency.

3. "Chickenhawk Cheney is giving out the purple hearts?"
The soldiers MUST HAVE earned them if the GOP says so... Just ask John Kerry, Max Clelland, and John McCain. We once thought they deserved their medals until the GOP set us straight!

Congratulations, Soldier! The GOP says you earned this medal!

11. Wondered when that pic would show up
Ugh...

"Congratulations, soldier. You earned this medal. Of course, we in the GOP will be happy to tell how how worthless and meaningless this medal is. Chances are, you aren't really deserving of a medal, and just inflicted these wounds on yourself so you could look like a hero. But don't take it personally. That's how we feel about Purple Hearts. "

5. Given his party's treatment of Kerry,
Edited on Tue Dec-06-05 04:11 PM by July
shouldn't he be sticking purple heart bandaids on these troops? I mean, the Navy's backing Kerry up (not to mention his crew's doing the same) meant nothing to all the thugs wearing those bandaids at a televised national convention. Don't tell me they're meaningful now? Or is it that all Purple Hearts except Kerry's (and perhaps Murtha's) are meaningful.

What a lot of fucking gall.

6. Everyone knows soldiers can award themselves Purple Hearts for anything...
Especially Vietnam Vets.

We have the Republicans to thank for pointing that out to us.

So, next time a Pro-Bush veteran gets all proud about his medals, remind him that The Swiftboat Veterans blew the whistle on their so-called "medals" and that any veteran who claims they earned a medal should be taken with a grain of salt.

If they have a problem with that, tell them who to take it up with. You're just repeating what the GOP's been telling you.

8. Also, why does the press call it a "rally for troops"?
When everyone can plainly see it's a "photo-op for the Bush Administration." The troops are just props.

9. Mr. Corporate ChickenHawk
Sh*t should be banned from ever touching a Purple Heart. BossHogg is right--the photo should emphasize the soldier and his medal--not be a cheap photo-op for someone who never had the courage to serve in the military.

presenting Purple Hearts to front line soldiers that were NOT as successful dodging bullets and bombs in bush and cheney's illegal war. bush and cheney will fight in wars as long as they can do it from the comfort of their Washington offices while others fight the battle for them.

14. Terribly wrong indeed.
A chickenhawk who was deferred 5 times (at least) pinning a Purple Heart on a soldier? Just wait until that soldier wants to run for office on say, the democratic ticket, and then see how they talk about his Purple Heart being worthless.

17. In that third picture, it almost looks as though the somewhat
appropriately named "Freakley" is threatening to slap ol' Dickie pink, and, judging by his defensive position and expression of utter, craven terror, Dickie isn't thrilled about it.

That's what I like to think is happening there, anyway.
