How come there aren't Republican versions of Lieberman, Zell?
Or do some of the Republicans think of people like McCain this way, or the few others who've spoken out against torture?

3. Should we not be a LITTLE more like them in that respect? Do we "need"
to have people like Lieberman because they won an election in CT?

4. Lincoln Chafee comes to mind
We need to drive every Republican politician out of the Northeast like St Patrick drove out the snakes.

5. The NRA hates McCain as well
NRA Blasts John McCain
Wes Vernon

Saturday-Sunday, May 19-20, 2001

Editor's note: NewsMax.com correspondent Wes Vernon is in Kansas City this weekend with CEO and Editor Christopher Ruddy to cover the National Rifle Association's annual convention. This article will be updated throughout the weekend.

Saturday, 12:28 CDT

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Speaking to thousands of NRA members who packed the main convention center hall, CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre blasted Sen. John McCain.

The NRA chief harshly criticized McCain's efforts on behalf of the McCain-Feingold bill that would reform campaign financing.

LaPierre asked, "Is it possible that John McCain thinks you have too much freedom?"

LaPierre said McCain's new law would effectively shut the NRA out of the political system by not allowing independent groups from buying TV or radio ads 60 days before a general election.

6. Problem is...
...with the GOP control of the media, the "maverick" Republicans never get heard from, just as we hear little BUT the "conservative" Democrats when they bother to even consult our side for an opinion.

13. McCain, Chafee, Specter, Collins, Snowe, Hagel
Although Chafee is a flaming liberal from Rhode Island, I've never seen such inbred ignorant hatred as what they feel about John McCain. Freeptards HATE that guy more than they hate many Democrats. The sick thing is that he is very conservative!!! and they say he's not Republican enough! Reminds me of the self-hating latte liberals on this board who say (insert Democrat here) isn't liberal enough!

I lost respect for John McCain when he whored himself to his neo-con arch-enemy Bush. Whatever the Bush camp did to Kerry and Gore, the way they treated McCain in 2000 was worse. Lets see...insane war vet, drug-addict wife, illegitimate black baby,...disgusting bullshit. You can't make this stuff up...but Republicans can.

However, he was known to have a backbone at times and be a maverick that stood up to the fascists on several occasions.

In fact several repugs spoke out about the deficit.

I would find it very interesting to see a race between Hillary and either McCain or Hagel. But not quite as interesting as Hillary vs. Rice. In fact, I hope Cheney and Bush are impeached in such a way that we get President Condi -- just to see RepubliKKKan heads explode. Oh, there will be blood. A black woman, no matter how fascist her views, is still a Republican't. Many racist freeptards won't forgive the shrubster for letting one of "those people" into the front of the bus.
