How Can Saddam Be Tried for Torture if Cheney Wants Authority To Do It???
I saw footage from Saddam's trial yesterday in which a woman related being tortured.

How can the US government support this at the same time it is looking to protect the right of itself to use torture?

Why isn't anyone in MSM linking the two?

1. Too subtle of a distinction for war whores like
Norah O'Donnell, Kyra Phillips or that stupid airheaded Katie Couric to discern.

2. Now there's a bottom line if I ever saw one!
That's a very basic, valid question and it deserves an answer. It is in line with questions I've posed here... If we invade a sovereign nation for nothing, who is to stop another country from doing it to us? And wouldn't they be right in doing so?

If we torture, then other countries have the "right" to torture our people too. We can't have our own set of rules while imposing another set on others! School yard etiquette 101 fcol!

4. Google a list of charges against Saddam
then compare that list against what America has done in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I did.

5. Because it is OK for the Bu$h regime to be hypocrites
They live under different set of rules than what they expect the rest of the world to use.

6. Conservative hypocricy and arrogance
Saddam certainly should be on trial for his crimes.

So should Bush, Cheney, Poppy, and who knows how many other administration officials.

7. actually, Saddam's lawyers did
after the testimony of someone beaten by Saddam's people, the lawyer asked "did they use dogs on you"? "did they take photographs"? The answer to both was no.

10. His lawyer should call Cheney to the stand to defend the right of
government to torture. :eyes:

8. Jeesh! That's Easy
It's because his torture is "bad" torture, while Cheney's torture is "good" torture, silly.

You've obviously spent too much time reading that "claptrap" in the Bible about "whatever you do the the least of my brothers, that you do unto me" stuff.

I'm sure even God recognizes that there is "good" torture and "bad" torture. There's "evil" torture, and "saintly" torture. We're the Saintly ones.

9. We are the defenders of civilization, so we have a duty to torture!
If we'd limit our options, civilization may be doomed!

12. You're not really shocked, are you?
Answer to question 1: This administration has never had a problem with brazen double standards or hypocrisy. Why should this subject be any different?

Answer to question 2: Who owns the MSM and who do you think they support?

13. Exactly!
That was my thought as well after seeing the clips from the trial yesterday. How is what the witnesses were testifying to with regard to torture different from what the bush admin is currently doing?
