Do we Love to Hate Bush?
As I look through this site I see a lot of this:

Hey did you hear that Bush said this!
-------------------------------------
response: Oh my god that Bastard!

response2: Bush what an ass hole!

Chorus: Impeach! Impeach!

We all know that Bush is the worst president ever and that we have to get him out of office. But as I look at all the choir preaching all around this site I begin to wonder, Deep down, do we enjoy hating Bush? After all, what will we type about when he is gone? I suppose we will find a substitute...........What do you think?

The right wing propagandists made up hating Bush
Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 02:59 AM by Erika
because they couldn't handle it that they had voted for such a poor choice as president for this country. They tried to blame their ills and choice on someone else.

12. I hate George W. Bush
And if you asking me if I love hating him, as if, if it weren't for him, I would have to hate someone else, then you still don't get it.

HE IS DESTROYING OUR COUNTRY. HE WIPES HIS ASS WITH OUR CONSTITUTION. HE HAS KILLED DEMOCRACY.

Yeah, I hate the fucker, but it's not the same as I hate Notre Dame or the Denver Broncos because I'm a Miami Hurricane and Oakland Raider fan.

This is not a fucking game.

63. What are you, about 9 years old? . . .
You blatantly violate federal law, place the future of this site in jeopardy, and when called on it think only of your own narcissistic interests. And to cap it all, you resort to a cheap, immature "insult" -- or at least what you believe is an insult. Is it too much to hope for a little creative abuse on this board? At the least, can't you be slightly original, or are you so constrained by the limited range of your experience and intellect that a blubbered "fuck you" is the best we can expect? Take some creative writing lessons at least, try to improve that stunted organ you're cursed with, so we might see -- if not improvement, then earnest effort from which we might garner a chuckle. As it is, you're simply boring.

16. So what are you saying then?
Gw didn't bring this on him self? That GW doesn't deserve the treatment jeers and cat calls we give him? Sorry but a lot of us are just frustrated that someone like bush is allowed to steal his way into the white house along with stealing both houses and then putting people into high places that either are supported by fundies or is incapable of doing the job. If you think we are bad, go over and look at what those on the other side are saying about us. The really funny thing is, none of it is true, its all based on lies Reagan told in 1979 and 80. Reagan was a master at playing the blame game and after seeing it work so well the reporkicans have used it every since. They are so good at it in fact, even some liberals bought into some of the lies.

I love to hate Bush or not! I just HATE him, that's all. And I refuse to apologize for it or allow anyone to make me feel guilty about it! It's been my experience that "Bush hater" is an epithet tossed around by freepers in an attempt to avoid the fact that we hate him FOR A REASON, and usually for many reasons.

I've been known to sign my notes on another forum: BUSH HATER AND PROUD OF IT!!!

We need to drop the term "Hate" You know, it makes us look bad! Take the moral high ground as the old repubs used to say. We should say something like this: "Im really ashamed that somone like Bush is running the Country" But never say Hate.

It can be used different ways. People try to make the case that it's always about dismissing people or things based on baseless prejudice, but that is simply not the case.

41. Speak for yourself...
I use the word HATE because that's what I mean! But I didn't wake up one morning and decide to start hating George W. Bush just for the hell of it. When he was sElected in 2000 I thought he was an idiot, but I didn't hate him. I didn't start hating him until late 2001/early 2002, when I first perceived he was fabricating a phony case for war against Saddam Hussein. When he started advocating "pre-emptive war" was when I starting hating him--a feeling that has been more than vindicated since that time.

I've never felt this way before so it's weird and uncomfortable for me. I'm just not used to this level of strong emotions. I do also think it also has to do with me being an empath and feeling the other anger and various other negative emotions with everything going on.

22. I don't know about deep down.
Many people hate him openly. I know I do. I don't care who doesn't like it, either.

The country, no the world, is going to hell because of his administration. We know he is a dumb son of a bitch, and just a figurehead for the neocons. But we hate what he stands for as much as we hate him.

I never used to hate repukes. I just disagreed with them. They are the ones who started what the pundits refer to as polarization. It is hate. And until the repukes get hold of their own party and begin acting like human beings again, I will continue to hate them.

Most anti-democratic leaders are hated. So what?

Merry Christmas.

I don't hate my family members who are republicans nor my dad who is still one I think. You're behaving as if there are no good reasons to dislike, even hate, Bush. As if his actions toward America and the world have not been brutal, cruel and mean. The man tortures, ignores hurricane victims (lets them die), starts wars of aggression, erodes civil rights, kidnaps people, disappears people, cuts funding so the poor can freeze to death, breaks treaties, violates federal and international law, bankrupting the country, gutting needed medical services , etc.

and you wanna pretend that hating him for what he has done is just a flavor of the month kind of thing.

Your entire premise is suspect - just a big crock of shit.

49. Oh piffle. People who come to DU already dislike and hate Bush
If you want to go convert those who are too damn stupid to see what Bush is, try another site. You won't find them at DU.

DU isn't about reaching out to the those who just aren't sure if Bush is bad or not - it's for people who know Bush is a piece of shit to gather and discuss just how bad he is fucking up the country. DU began because of Bush and Selection 2000 - so everyone that joins and stays already dislikes/hates Bush for one or more reasons.

If you wanna go door knocking, have a field day. But don't start some bullshit post about "loving to hate Bush" - because it's been done a thousand times before by "new" people.

Next you'll be explaining how we need to reach moderates, who sit on the fence - unsure of what they are seeing. How we have to watch what we say in order to appeal to them. How they use what we say against us. How we harm the party with our hate. Been there.Heard that. Called it a crock of shit each time.

an escape valve.

Granted to do only that doesn't change things. But it has it's place when balanced with action. It can be healthy.
I think your OP blurrs the difference between advocating action: Impeachment, and venting: that bastard!

And I seriously doubt if many "love to hate",
but they may appreciate a chance to vent once in a while.

C'mon, man, you broke two big rules of DU disruption:

-don't act like you're a part of the community and chummy with everyone, by referring to DU'ers as a whole as "we", when you have <100 posts

-don't make a thread criticizing DU as a whole, when you have <100 posts

Maybe one day you clowns will get this covert disruption thing right..

Maybee someday I can be part of the DU team! Do you have your own initiation ritual?

Do you have your own hall of fame? Like the record for most posts, say the Emit Smith of DU?

I've just noticed, through my past DU experience, that people who are new to the forum and are truly here for the right reasons, DO NOT introduce themselves by creating a new thread to criticize the forum while simultaneously and consciously using the word "we", as if to clarify that you're in fact a Good Democrat just trying to help the DU community.

Again, nice try.

64. Stupid Question...
Regardless of how we voted in 2000, we hoped (against fear) that Bush would have done the right thing -- and he went headlong into war.

Which came first, the foul or the ovum?

I don't hate Bush -- I hate the state of our nation, under him.

67. It's only healthy to own our emotional response to his pathology.
More importantly though, I think you're over-generalizing the content of this site.
There are a lot of positive things we progressive DUers champion, and we'll always love to talk with similar minded humans about them.
