According to this mornings news on the radio,
Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 08:22 AM by yy4me
regarding high oil prices, oil company executives tell us to "deal with it". To me that tells us all to go jump off a cliff or worse. They really do not care if we freeze or starve so as not to freeze. What's with this country anyway. I know we do not all have this attitude but this "go to hell" approach makes me sick. And how about the man who was told he must buy the new Part "D" Social Security prescription drug benefit for about $35.00 a month when his current prescription cost $28.00. The reasoning was that if he doesn't buy it, if he needs additional drugs at a later date, he will be penalized. Now his monthly outlay will be close to $70.00 instead of $28.00. Where is the logic for this arrangement? By the time the government takes its cut of the monies we have paid into this system, there will be very little left. Thats one way of reforming Social Security. Just "fee" it to death. Part B, part D, how about part N for "you have a NERVE living long enough to use this" (Sorry for the early morning rant, the news just ticked me off.

1. in this whole bill--it is only the people who risk being penalized. There
was a good discussion about this the other night. (sorry I forget which cable show it was).

3. This is all part of the process, they know you will have to heat your home
then when you can't pay the bill. Next summer they will begin the process of prosecuting each and every customer who could not pay their bills.
Through that process more people are relieved of their worldly possessions as they will have to sell everything they own at bargain basement prices to feed the oil sharks.
When they are through with this process and you have been relieved of everything you own, you can then move under the bridge with the other formerly warm individuals for next winters round.
One more step in the creation of two classes in this country. The haves and the have nots.

4. Also
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2005-12-08-gas-prices_x.htm?csp=N009.

..."The U.S. average price for a gallon of regular has been rising after two months of daily declines, to a post-hurricane low of $2.122 Sunday. Thursday's average was $2.149, according to AAA, based on transactions at 60,000 service stations.

Current prices "represent bargains compared to what we are likely to witness just a few months from now," says Tom Kloza, analyst at the Oil Price Information Service. "Enjoy the sweet spot."

He forecasts an average as much as $1 higher by spring, or about $3.12."...

5. Guys, I'm sorry...but...
this is something that's bigger than "Big Oil", bigger than the Bushistas, and, perhaps, bigger than humankind's ability to innovate.

I speak of Peak Oil. There is a chance - in my opinion, a very good chance - that we will never again see prices as low as they are today. The costs of energy will propagate through the system; so you'll see higher food prices coupled with reduced availability.

There is a wealth of material available right here on DU. I urge you to educate yourself on the subject.

7. It astounds me, how companies like this want to be treated like Citizens
and give all the rights of individuals, but they just have a "fuck off and die" mentality towards Americans...

Its disgusting.

And, all the while, they claim to be proud, patriotic, American companies!
