I have to admit this was my first time EVER watching Fox News....
and my blood pressure rising would break the meter. A family member put on Fox News while I had to be doing something in the room and Fox and Friends was on. They were interviewing a Bubba type sheriff who keeps prisoners in tents. He is playing Christmas music to the inmates all day (he claims he has Christmas music for all religions, which was amusing at best). The hosts of the show (I have no idea who they are; two white women and one black man) thought he was fantastic and were happy the prisoners didn't have the COUNTRY CLUB SETTING and this was better than them having access to a law library. I will admit the black man said he wasn't sure about that. At the end of the interview they said MERRY CHRISTMAS, someone also mentioned they were a Christian. The whole thing was the most bizarre, ridiculous bunch of nonsense I have heard in a long time. This whole Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays thing has been taken to an extreme and I truly believe most people don't care either way.

They then went on about Joe Lieberman and what a good senator he is blah, blah, blah and at that point I was able to turn Fox News off. I can't believe this is what people listen to all day long. No wonder this country has turned in the direction it has. Of course I believe in total free speech so everyone can listen to whatever they choose, but the fact that Fox News can use the slogan "Fair and Balanced" should be outlawed. We can't get much lower than Fox News or change the zombies who listen to the propaganda and believe it all.

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!

3. 30 minutes of FAUX watching does explain a lot, doesn't it?
Try to get people to realize FAUX went to court to defend it's right to fire some on air talent who would not report lies as truth. The network WON that case, by the way. Yep, the court upheld the right of a media company to fire people who would not repeat shit they knew to be false. Damned liberal judges...:eyes:

12. Truth = agree with my preconcieved notions for too many Americans
The neocons have been playing on that trait for WAY too long. It is one of the reasons for allowing media consolitation years ago. We didn't get in this mess overnight. Lots of years of appealing to the most base tendencies of too many lazy people.

14. How can sane, reasonable people fight this. Between Fox and...
Limbaugh I can see why this country is where it is. People watching and listening to the propaganda have no idea that is what it is.

38. If I believed what they believe, I'd sound crazy too.
Remember, somewhere around half the public believed that Saddam caused 9/11, at least until recently. If I believed that (which I never did, not even for one second), Bush's Iraq War would seem to make sense.

Now the Foxbots are being induced to believe this "liberals stole Christmas" claptrap. At this point you do start to wonder whether there is anything Sean or Rush could say that the RW sheep would not believe. They seem to have entirely abandoned critical thinking and indeed all use of the brain.

They proceed with eyes and ears shut tight to reality and the brain idling in neutral. No wonder they say the things they do.

Sorry took so long. I was out all day today.

Two people (happen to be married/working together) refused to alter info about genetically modified foods to suit Monsanto, which was pressuring FOX. FOX fired them. They sued and won, then it was overturned. Might still be in judical limbo/hell. Case filed in Florida, so you can imagine the fun. The google site has a BUNCH of links on this one.

They seem quite proud of the draconian conditions under which they hold the prisoners.

:sarcasm:

do you know, he has all the prisoners wear pink undershorts? He says it's so the clothes don't disappear when the prisoners are released, but according to guys who have been there, he does it for the humiliation factor.

I will say this, of all the kids I know who ended up in Joe's Tent Jail - They all had very strong feelings about not going back. Course, a few of them did, anyway. :(

people on Fox and Friends thought he was a real hero. He looked kind of big with glasses. I think he had a cowboy hat on but not sure because I was not watching, just listening through no choice of my own.

16. I swear, I think Faux is like a drug to some people....
I can't stand to watch it, but I know several people that do, and the routine is almost always the same for everyone of them. They sit down and watch, get all excited and call me up to explain the latest talking points, and talk a 100 miles a minute about their latest "issue." You would think they were whacked out on speed if you didn't know better. If you get these people way from their TV sets for a day, they are completely different people. Calm, relaxed, kind, happy people, until they get their next "fix." Then they get argumentative, and hyper all over again.

20. I don't think they do either....The other news channels aren't as
"exciting" to them, or so it seems. That's why I think it's like a drug. They get "excited" by watching it, or "stimulated" so to speak.

21. I got into
an online "discussion" with someone who kept bashing the "liberal media" and liberals in general. He insisted that he also watched CNN and MSNBC - but he considered them liberal unless they said the same thing that FOX did.

Then I found out he was a big fan of O'Reilly - and it all made sense.

"Liberal" media. Where is it in the mainstream. The two female hosts on Fox and Friends were just so 'gosh darn, oh so sweet and cute' how could they be anything but truthful to the zombies who watch this. It was unbelievable.

27. I told him
if he wanted to get real liberal news - see Democracy Now or the Nation.

He just slung insults and tried the intimidation approach. I figured he learned that from O'Reilly also.

I've rarely seen O'Reilly. I saw him debate Krugman. And I saw OutFoxed. I recommend that.

39. This is the insidious effect of right-wing media.
For example, have you ever actually listened to Rush? I can take about 2 minutes before I'm so mad I'm ready to drive the car straight into a Wal-Mart. No wonder these people seem so insane. This guy is making millions rousing the rabble and destroying our nation in the process.

These are sad days for America.

Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 10:56 AM by Missy M
we become traitors? I am a Liberal and what I stand for is a decent wage for everyone, health care for everyone, helping the less fortunate, a woman's choice and PEACE not war. How is that destroying the stock market and how does that make me a traitor. Is Brenda Buttner on Fox News?

26. I cannot stand Faux News
but I find it amusing to check out their "headlines" with their News Ticker program. In between 3-4 ads are the main stories that are on rotation according to Alies' memos. I roll my eyes every time.

http://www.foxnews.com/projects/FNCTicker/FNCTicker.exe

It is 1.5MB, I usually only watch one time through the headlines before it repeats itself. You do not need to do this more than once per day.

It keeps my blood pressure in check as I cannot stand more than 5min of their actual broadcast.

40. Brainwashed Repubs I know will not watch anything but Fox News
All of the fundies I know (or are related to) have been convinced by their churches and fellow conservatives that they should not watch or read or listen to any news sources that will expose them to sinful left wing propaganda. They stay tuned to Christian radio and Rush Limbaugh and do not even read mainstream papers and magazines because they consider them too liberal. They are apparently so insecure that they need constant right wing reinforcement and seem genuinely afraid to expand their mindset.
