Cunningham allowed access to national secrets while under investigation
North County Times – San Diego
Cunningham regularly heard secrets while taking bribes

By: MARK WALKER - Staff Writer
During the four years he was accepting bribes and cheating on his taxes, former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham routinely attended closed-door intelligence briefings, including sessions with the CIA and the Defense Intelligence and National Security agencies.

Cunningham's role on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and as chairman of one of its subcommittees included oversight of the United States' global war on terror and allocation of a $40 billion annual budget, including spending on the Pentagon's "black budget" for top secret military and spy agency projects.
Despite Cunningham's access to highly classified information, there were no apparent moves by House leaders, White House officials, or U.S. law enforcement agencies to ask him to step down or limit his access to national secrets.

The intelligence committee and the subcommittee Cunningham chaired oversee and gets briefings from the following federal agencies:
• The Central Intelligence Agency
• Defense Intelligence Agency
• Department of Defense
• Department of Energy
• Department of Justice
• Department of State
• Department of Treasury
• Federal Bureau of Investigation
• National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
• National Reconnaissance Office
• National Security Agency
• Office of Naval Intelligence
• U.S. Air Force Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance
• U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command
• U.S. Coast Guard
• U.S. Marine Corps Intelligence Department

This proves that most Repubs are not pro-life; rather, they threaten American lives.

3. This is totally outrageous. They knew he was under investigation
on Federal bribery charges but allowed him to continue to access this information. They don't give a sh-t about National Security. It's all about covering their political asses!

4. Did Cunningham know he was being investigated?
for the whole time. If he didn't then they had to let him keep the access, or else the investigation might have been ruined. It is a tough call but frankly I think the interest in convicting Cunningham outweighed the risk of him selling secrets.
