Poll question: Do you believe the repukes are actively trying to destroy our democracy?
Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 12:59 PM by converted_democrat
Do you believe the repukes are actively trying to destroy the democratic process in order to retain power? They are passing legislation in Ohio, House Bill 3, that in my opinion, completely undermines the democratic process, by making it illegal to challenge a presidential election, or challenge any federal election for that matter. The bill also exempts electronic voting machines from public scrutiny. Similar bills are being drawn up in Indiana and Georgia. If bills like these are passed in all rethuglican held Houses and Senates how will we ever take back our country? How will we be able to challenge the validity of an election result, no matter the proof we hold, if they are making it "illegal" to do so? Do you believe that the pukes are actively trying to destroy our democratic process to keep themselves in power?
(Link discusses House Bill 3 in greater detail.)

Actual poll question- Do you believe the pukes are actively trying to destroy the democratic process to keep themselves in power?

on edit- I do believe that the NeoCons are actually behind this, but the pukes are allowing themselves to be the vehicle to carry the plans out. The pukes could stop it if they wanted to, but they are not. I hold them equally responsible.

1. It's Obvious That They Are
If they weren't stealing elections, why would they want to pass something like that? There would be no need for it.

repugs. but they are following along with the neocon plan. thus, they have decided to do whatever they must (ie, destroy democracy) in order to maintain power.

edit for spelling

5. Same here
I don't think the rank and file know what they're signing on for but they are nonetheless. I'm getting tired of trying to reason with people and get them to see that their basic rights are in jeopardy when they throw back b.s. like "we're bringing Freedom to the Eye-Rackees!" and "the libruls are trying to destroy Christmas!"

Enjoy the fascist theocracy numbskulls. I'll be in Canada....

3. It's not the Republicans. It's the NeoCons.
However, I don't mean to say we should let the GOP off the hook. They are willingly driving the NeoCon agenda, blinded by their gains in power, and deluding themselves about the results.

Idiots.

6. I agree that is indeed the NeoCons that are doing it, but the repukes are
allowing themselves to be the vehicle, so I blame them just as much as I blame the NeoCons. They (the pukes) could stop it if they wanted to, but they aren't.

11. You'd think it would be a no-brainer, but people don't seem to think it's
all that important.....I mean we have more pressing issues to deal with right now, like the current Christmas war.:sarcasm:

7. They believe in rule by elite
They are some kind of strange neo-feudalists. Democracy is "quaint" to them.

8. It's about more power for the privileged class
The Bushes come from the upper caste of American society. It should be obvious by their actions and their obvious social elitism that they believe they have a right to rule. That's why they shit on the Constitution, start unprovoked wars, and use their corporate friends to ensure that elections always go "the right way."

What we need right now is class warfare straight out of the 1930's. Hit the streets and be loud and obnoxious. It's come down to us v. them.

9. the way I see it
there is a monster that has been around for a long time doing all sorts of evil things, that's the repuglican party. Then this monster becomes infected by a demonic virus that takes over it's mind, that's the neocons. So what we are seeing is a monster that has become posessed by a demon.

10. Sadly, "yes" is the only conclusion I can reach.
I basically recognized this unfortunate fact after coup 2000, but I know it for sure now.

13. Of course, they think the Constitution is an outdated document.
It is quite, shall we say, inconvenient for them, a small obstruction in their quest for power. And the Dominionists and Christian Reconstructionists like James Dobson, James Kennedy (Coral Ridge Ministries, wants to end the public school systems), Falwell and Robertson, et al. want a "Christian" run government based on biblical principles. They get to cherry pick the principles they favor most, of course. Won't that be an interesting process.

That's why George called it "just a God damned piece of paper, and Alberto Gonzales said it is an outdated document. Al's comment should be traceable.

I know this is Capitol Hill Blue, so take it for whatever it means...for you. But, yes, they want to overturn the Constitution and our democratic republic. that is why we have the "Patriot" Act, it was being written before 9/11. There wasn't enough time from 9/11 to its being passed for that to be otherwise.
