What Jomentum does not see is that when he takes over as Sec. of Defense, the entire Iraq war will become his problem. Bush will lump EVERY problem in Iraq on Joe's lap. Conveniently, the Republicans will have a Democrat to blame for the Iraq war mess.
He's actually being used right now--as a "Dem" who isn't against the war. I don't think they'd dare put him in as SecDef. That'd infuriate the so-called "base".
but I don't think he'll take the Sec of Defense position. Why should he? If his handlers & advisors give him any decent advise even Joe has to know that he will put himself into a very unpopular position that will not only keep him from ever running for office again in Connecticut but probably president as well.
He's got a cush job as senator with an almost guarentee re-election in 2006. Why would he ditch that all for a dead end job?
