Bush Outrages His Base by Inclusiveness
Joseph Farah - founder of the right-wing news portal and opinion site, WorldNetDaily - castigates President George W. Bush over his remarks at the annual National Christmas Tree-lighting ceremony. President Bush jokingly followed his more solemn remark that "Each year, we gather here to celebrate the season of hope and joy – and to remember the story of one humble life that lifted the sights of humanity" with "Santa, thanks for coming. Glad you made it." Farah says "President Bush needs to apologize to Christians in America and around the world" and claims the President "needs to take his Christian constituency seriously and not for granted."

Joseph Farah was also among those right-wing leaders - including Catholic League President William Donohue and Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association - who were angered that the White House "season's greeting" card did not include explicit mention of Christmas or Jesus Christ. Bush "claims to be a born-again, evangelical Christian. But he sure doesn't act like one," Farah told The Washington Post. "I threw out my White House card as soon as I got it." Donohue responded, "This clearly demonstrates that the Bush administration has suffered a loss of will and that they have capitulated to the worst elements in our culture." Wildmon, however, chalked the incident up to "political correctness."

“Conservatives are rankled” over the president’s Christmas cards, in which he sends the 1.4 million recipients “best wishes” for the “holiday season,” according to The Washington Times, which adds that “What bothers many conservatives is the creeping sense that Christ is no longer welcome at Christmas in America.” The paper quotes Joseph Farah, editor of WorldNetDaily, saying, “The Bushes have been tiptoeing around Christmas for five years. It's nothing new.” Farah adds, “Bush is falling victim to a cultural phenomenon.”

2. I'm actually quite surprised that he didn't do the "evangelical" thing too
Not that I think he SHOULD, but I'm very surprised that he strayed from his loyal group this time.

7. I doubt he had a clue
Maybe the WH xmas-card-decision-makers ran the card by Laura first, but clearly Bush was too busy riding his bike.

12. Looks like they got some reality eh?
Reality hurts sometimes. Sometimes try to watch the films "With God on Our Side" and "God in the White House." Bush just uses these people to hide behind to get his way such as with John Roberts. Funny how we haven't heard anything from James Dobson or Jerry Falwell eh? I still remember someone making a post where they showed all the rightwing fundie groups tied together to the GOP.

6. Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, shame on. . .
you can't get fooled again.

Don't be fooled. Remember, boys and girls, these con artists are supreme at devising issues that don't exist and that dividing and conquering the opposition by tying them up in knots trying to come up with a response. Or they focus on one issue -- gay marriage -- and label all liberals as supporting gay marriage, lesbianism, and pedophilia, and how can you trust those people.

This is another of those issues - the holiday card, the boycott, etc. It doesn't fucking matter, folks. Don't get sucked in. Observe the damn holidays any way you like. If it's Christmas, great. Hanukah? Just fine. Druid? Okey dokey. Just don't get sucked into the Church and state issues, the pagan rituals behind the Christmas celebrations, etc. Leave it the fuck alone and let the RW run itself into a frenzy. If our democratic leaders (okay, so maybe that's an oxymoron) have any sense, they'll do the same. Call it a private matter, they'll celebrate as they see fit and encourage others to do the same. End of comment. end of liberal response to story.

13. Hear hear
Watch the pbs film "The Architect" on Karl Rove. It shows just that. How whenever in a race Bush is losing Karl jumps on issues such as gay marriage like he did with Ann Richards and John Kerry. He takes their strengths and turns it into a weakness. The fundies have believed for the last several months they are the majority in this country who control the republican party agenda which both aren't true. And every election cycle these people fall for their same old bs hook, line and sinker.

10. Maybe real proof that PNAC really does run the WH?
I'm not being anti-semitic here, but just stating a fact that PNAC is more or less a zionist-packed group. Perhaps they influence the holiday cards as well as foreign policy decisions?
